It was her looking at the Internet culture going, “Huh… so people are really getting into steampunk, eh?

There was a man who was worthless, and knew he was worthless, and yet however far down he tried to sink his soul, there was always some part of him capable of great action. Something terrifying is waiting for Tessa Gray in London’s Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. However, the sacrificial lamb is revealed to be Nate and Tessa impulsively blows her cover to save him. He was still in good term with Thomas only because the latter happened to have the big enough heart to forgive him. The Infernal Devices has been optioned for film by Constantin Film, the same studio that produced The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.Although she'd never imagined one of them cursing at her while shaking his bleeding hand in an accusing fashion. The magic and mysteries are compelling and Victorian London is a fantastic backdrop to this steampunk tale about a girl who discovers she has incredible powers. However, they are forced to join the vampires in another room before they can discuss the matter further.

The next morning, Tessa encounters Jessamine taking care of Nate and Tessa instantly recognizes the fact that Jessamine wished to run away with Nate as he was a mundane. He also tells Tessa that the drug is killing him, but when Tessa asks him why he does not simply give up his dangerous profession, he declares that "there are more things to life than not dying". Mortmain, believing he has won, agrees, but once the army has left the room, Tessa, knowing that Mortmain valued her life and would use her powers for ill-use, stabs herself in the heart and falls into the fountain. Noticing Sophie's indignation, Tessa brings Holy Water for Will, to help annihilate the effects of the foreign blood in his body.In the end, the only thing this book did for me was make me look forward to meeting the characters from TMI again, and I really hope that wasn’t the author’s intention.

They start as strangers that form a friendship and by the end of the book both of them begin to feel more for each other than mere affection. The Victorian setting gave interesting background and customs but there was a LOT of unnecessary description.Charlotte and Henry's investigation proves fruitful when Mortmain, who—strangely—knows a great deal about the Downworld, tells them that Nate had taken an interest in the Pandemonium Club, much like he himself had.

They rush off to kill her, leaving Nate, Jessamine, and Tessa alone with Sophie, Agatha, and Thomas in the Institute. My goodness, these people are supposed to be warriors who protect humans from the evil demon race, but judging from the way how those Shadowhunters ran business, I wouldn't even trust them to guide me to cross the freaking street! They add a good portion of misery and heart to the story and if we’re totally honest, we’ve to admit that we all love a tragic fairy tale every once in a while.
