Description

I picked this book up because I'm trying to eat more vegetables and I was looking for new recipes without animal protein. Coconut milk in the broth isn’t something I’d usually go for but it adds a great deal of texture and taste.

A great book for those just venturing into vegan cooking, but also for others looking to expand their repertoire. The law also requires us to carry out a soft age check of the purchaser after checkout, this is done by an automated system that usually doesn't require your input, although we will need to contact you for proof of age if you fail, which can sometimes happen if you use a work address.I love the photos for each recipe and being over 40 I also don’t mind the huge text as I don’t need reading glasses for it. But the book isn’t only for meat eaters looking for a better way to live: Isa wants to get vegans to start cooking more so that they can worry less about what they can and cannot eat. One thing I would have liked to have seen in the book are recommendations for mains to go with sides or salads and sides to go with mains. Her readers turn to her for recipes that work, whether they're looking for cupcakes that adhere to their diet, or comforting Thanksgiving dinners that taste as satisfying as their childhood memories. I Can Cook Vegan teaches readers to cook the way someone might learn a new instrument: master a couple of chords and then start to put them together to form songs.

I think this would be a great intro to vegan cooking book, but as someone who's been cooking vegan for a long time I still found a lot of new things to try and just overall great looking recipes, I'm excited to try them! The overall aesthetic of the cover follows through the rest of the book: the photos are bright and enticing and there's something about the font used that makes it feel approachable. My favorites have been: Garlicky White Bean and Asparagus Soup, Cream of Mushroom Soup, Southern Comfort Bowl, Portobello Brisket Bowl, and the Banana Cinnamon Swirl Muffins. But this book isn't only for meat eaters looking for a better way to live: Isa wants to get vegans to start cooking more so that they can worry less about what they can and cannot eat. In addition, the book is chock full of really tasty sounding vegan dishes most of which use things probably in your pantry right now. My only complaint when it comes to the categories is that the ingredient list is in the color of the section. I Can Cook Vegan is for cooks of all stripes: The Just-Born, Brand New Cook The Tried-and-True Seasoned Cook Who Is Tofu-Curious The Busy Weeknight Pantry Cook (this is everyone) The Farmers' Market Junkie Who Looks at All the Pretty Colors The Reluctant Parent to the Vegan Child For Anyone Doing Vegan for the Animals For Anyone Doing Vegan for the Health Each chapter is a building block to becoming a better, more competent cook.
