I feel like the first few books had a bit more grit and interesting crimes to solve, whereas now the main focus is on the relationships between the characters with a very thinly plotted mystery in the background.

There are many currents and undercurrents in this small village – there are those who practice the old religions and others who believe in the more recent religions.
