I've been worried about the trial and the cost overruns on the building, and I I guess I took it out on you, and that's, uh that's not right. While it’s true that Suzie only learned of the allegations of Krutch’s crime at her interview with Columbo, after the fact, Suzie at that point knew “that said principal [Krutch] committed such felony or [or would shortly be] charged with such felony”–making her “an accessory to such felony” if she persisted with providing the false alibi for Krutch. Why? Because I had a private investigator confirm that the woman that I loved was having an affair with another man and I chose not to reveal the sordid details of that investigation to the police. According to California Penal Code 32 PC: “Every person who, after a felony has been committed, harbors, conceals, or aids a principal in such felony, with the intent that said principal may avoid or escape from arrest, trial, conviction, or punishment, having knowledge that said principal has committed such felony or has been charged with such felony or convicted thereof, is an accessory to such felony.” With each successive episode, the ‘90’s Columbos further erode the mythic reality of the ‘70’s Columbos. The classic Columbos weren’t pure realism, but they were faithful to their own reality — with credible murderers committing credible crimes for credible reasons, that were solved by credible means. You could believe what you were watching. I don’t believe this story for a second.

My REAL problem with this episode is the fact that I've never understood how anybody could drive with that mask on. It did not look opaque to me. It looked like a photograph. Interestingly, there was no “character development” in Columbo learning to use technology, where such development would make the most sense for, you know, a police detective. As it is, Columbo magically solves the very tech-based murder of “Goes To College” without the writers giving us a hint of how the solution was arrived at. I disagree with some of your speculations. It seems clear enough that if Suzie continue to lie to Columbo, she could be charged as an accessory to a crime after the fact. Giving somebody who committed a felony crime a false alibi by saying you were with them during the time when the crime occurred is certainly an example of that. Grant Heslov as the lab technician who helps Columbo out with understanding how speed cameras work. Dunaway won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her performance. This is the only episode written by Falk. Aired under ABC Sunday Night Movie. [5]

The final 14 episodes of Columbo were produced sporadically as a series of specials, spanning 13 years from 1990 to 2003. These episodes have since been released on DVD in several regions as "season 10". [1] [2] Two of the episodes, "No Time to Die" and "Undercover", were based on 87th Precinct novels by Ed McBain and thus do not follow the usual Columbo format. Thanks, Glenn, for your elaborate answer, one that I probably won’t be able to match in length or quality. That's because the perpetrator took a second bottle of champagne and he poured it into the first bottle and the glass. The other two actors to share this distinction are Ed Begley Jr (a canine control officer in 1978’s How to Dial a Murder and a double killer in Undercover in 1994); and Fred Draper (murderer Swanny in Last Salute in 1975 and a police forensics guy in Negative Reaction a year earlier). Fair Cop: Columbo's unofficial partner for this episode, Sergeant Hubach, played by the very attractive Sondra Currie.

They found traces of disulfiram in her bloodstream, but that's a pill that people with a drinking problem take when they don't want to drink. Why would a fella be so careful to put on gloves when he strangled the victim and then leave his fingerprints all over the bottle? Lieutenant, please. And are there really trees that only grow on one street? I could buy the localized poison ivy in “Lovely But Lethal,” but this takes forensic botany one step too far. Well, I'm gonna say he used a syringe and he injected it through the cork into the champagne bottle. How come all those Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons are blank? Will I have to take this camera to the lab to see if this white paint on this lens is the same as the white paint on the air duct in Miss Edwards' bedroom, or are you gonna answer my questions? Oh, Lieutenant! Not now, I'm in a hurry.
