Perfumes are often designed with top, middle and base notes, and designed to smell different based on the time after application. GPH II is a pleasant but uninteresting fragrance hamstrung by suboptimal performance, as unisex as a hermaphrodite and as ascetic as a pope.

The component notes are all there - tea, bergamot, olive leaf, cinnamon, violet, pimento, myrrh, musk, and tobacco - all blended very well. Also, I feel that HiM is only about 80% like this Gucci Homme II fragrance and not better than Gucci. I pray that someday a "parfum or intense" version will be released, the one that came out in 2015, "Gucci pour Homme" with the silver lined box, failed to repair the "defect" of the sillage.The woodsy and elegant violet links it to the base composed of olive tree wood, tobacco leaves, musk and myrtle. Keep in mind that GPH2 has macerated longer, has better quality ingredients, but in longevity and projection, Florence Man B 0589 stays on skin way longer, keeping the same profile as GPH2. the scent is good, a light spicy blend with a pleasant note of tea, but u can also feel violet and olive. Yea true it doesn't have the longevity or the projection power that one would like, but the scent itself is so gorgeous that it makes up for everything else that's lacking.

The elegant bottles will look great on your dressing table or in the bathroom, while smaller options are ideal for throwing in your bag to spritz on the go. Its normal for a specific fragrance or scent to take you back to a certain time period but this one does it for me. I like this sample enough that if there were an EDP version of this scent available I'd own a bottle.Sadly it went out, and I have not found this scent again - have tried to find it amongst different brands, also Armani Privé collections and so on. I personally don't wear fragrances like this too often because they really aren't "me", but this one might grow on me.

Do keep in mind that it smell a little sweeter on clothes (just a tiny bit from the tobacco) and last a little longer on clothes too (about 6-7 hours, but a light scent). If you read this right now, go find yourself the bottle that stated Gucci by Gucci Pour Homme that don't have a vertical line on the box. I think it may be a nice summer fragrance or high school fragrance for a guy/girl who doesn't want to be part of the smells like BO crowd without smelling like the mall mixed with AXE.My sister and lady friends could rarely smell it on me (though I was a two spray max guy until just a few years ago). It's an all-season, semi-formal/formal, evening-only fragrance best suited for when you're playing baccarat at the big boys table. The opening contains a charming burst of vivid aromatics so arousing, it just leaves you breath-taken!
