I don't care how much she loved him, or how much of their future she saw(which the author didn't mention one bit of, 0% explanation of show writing and 10000% of just telling-"oh she loved him, so if you disapprove, you're standing on the outside, you don't understand". NOTE: other restrictions can be a result of our security platform detecting potential malicious activity. The relationships are portrayed with compassion and honesty, and the author's note at the end that explains Hoover's personal connection to the subject matter is a must-read. Growing up witness to a father who abused her mother, Lily always swore to herself she would never be such a woman, and yet now she finds herself making allowances for Ryle time and time again. Born on December 11, 1979, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, Hoover's journey to becoming a New York Times bestselling author is as remarkable as the stories she weaves.

He was simply so intense and self-centred, and the relationship that develops between Lily and Ryle felt superficial such that I was never really invested in it to begin with. After giving birth, Lily realizes she does not want her daughter to grow up witnessing Ryle's aggressive outbursts, and tells him she wants a divorce. We also learn that her mother suffered dreadful abuse at the hands of her father and while her father never lifted a finger against his daughter it has left Lily scarred. Over time and amidst the various relationships and tribulations of their own separate lives, they continue to meet on the same date every year. Word-of-mouth spread like wildfire, propelling Hoover into the literary spotlight and establishing her as a force to be reckoned with. Also, I have to mention that all the explicit sexual content in the book felt so out of place for me, and perhaps it was because it was written from a girl's point of view, and I, being a guy, couldn't connect with it at all.

As a Social Care Worker, I’ve studied the reality of domestic violence and was interested to see how it was portrayed in the book. While dining at a restaurant where Atlas works, Lily reconnects with him, making Ryle instantly jealous despite her insistence that Atlas is only a friend. As well as showing the impact that her parents' relationship has on her growing up, we have this touching and sweet relationship that develops between Atlas and Lily. Lily Bloom falls in love with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything seems too good to be true.

Lily is reminded of her father's treatment of her mother; while horrified, she decides they are different from her parents and accepts his apologies, but warns him that she will leave if he hurts her again. An honest, evocative, and tender novel, It Ends with Us is "a glorious and touching read, a forever keeper. But her excitement is quickly hampered by the knowledge that, though they are no longer married, Ryle is still very much a part of her life—and Atlas Corrigan is the one man he will hate being in his ex-wife and daughter’s life.

Get ready to embark on an unforgettable literary adventure with this Colleen Hoover 3 Book Collection, featuring three captivating novels that will sweep you off your feet and leave you breathless. I did not also expect to feel scammed by Tiktok over this highly popular book which so many people- to this day- make constant posts about how it's their favorite book.It Ends With Us is a brave and heartbreaking novel that digs its claws into you and doesn't let go, long after you've finished it. So last month I finished It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover, and let me tell you I did NOT expect to dislike it to the extent that I do.

Heartbreaking and exquisitely written, Hoover’s touching novel of desire, lost loves and second chances focuses on a brilliantly realised love triangle and how we must always live with the ghosts of the past.

As a child, she found solace in books, using them as a means to escape reality and explore different worlds. As such I often found myself irritated at the chapters that focused on Lily and Ryle's developing relationship and when they're all loved up, as the tone just wasn't really for me, and to be honest was a bit cringey. Meet Lily Bloom, a young woman determined to break free from the cycle of abuse she witnessed as a child. Full disclaimer, I know full well that I cannot play a 17 year old, but I wanted to do this audition for funsies because I loved the book so much and cannot wait for the film!
