Description

As is also traditional, the story opens with a lesson, by Holmes, in ratiocination and deductive reasoning, as he divines the reason for Watson’s visit based on a handful of seemingly innocuous clues. Carstairs insists on accompanying Holmes and Watson, and together with Wiggins they take a carriage to the hotel. Watson has to come to his friend’s rescue, he must be the one to get him out of prison, so that Holmes can find the killer, and solve the mystery of the ailing Carstairs family. Holmes enters at the behest of an art dealer whose shipment of paintings was destroyed by Irish gang members and whose client is later found murdered.

While paying homage to the Athur Conan Doyle style of writing and using all the elements of a good Sherlock Holmes story, Horowitz also gives the reader a glimpse of his own take on this well-known detective.THE HOUSE OF SILK bring Sherlock Holmes back with all the nuance, pacing, and almost superhuman powers of analysis and deduction that made him the world's greatest detective, in a case depicting events too shocking, too monstrous to ever appear in print. Inspired by self-confident, strong and unique women, House of Silk was founded in Istanbul by Nilay Kum. This became increasingly irritating as the love-lorn Watson kept bemoaning the loss of Holmes’ powers of observation.

I hope, if you read it, you'll enjoy all the clues, the red herrings, the bizarre range of suspects and the occasionally violent twists. With consummate grasp, Horowitz unfolds an intricate and rewarding mystery in the finest Victorian tradition. The target of his blackmail was a person known by him to be a murderer as well, it was not the person who had refused to pay. Age: You must be 18 years of age or more to attend this event (no exceptions) | Photo ID – Please bring ID if you are 25 years of age or less or appear so. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote Sherlock Holmes as a series of short stories, originally for publication in newspapers I believe (Wikipedia is down due to protesting SOPA so I can’t check my facts).Anthony Horowitz is, perhaps, best known by a certain generation of young boys as the man behind the popular Alex Rider series of books. It starts with a smaller story and the tentacles of the mystery spread out to create a far wider tale with grave implications for welfare of the nation.

A fine art dealer named Edmund Carstairs visits Sherlock Holmes and Dr John Watson to beg for their help.It is, I think, less well-known that he is also the man behind some of the most popular mystery dramas currently on British television: Midsomer Murders, Poirot and Foyle’s War are amongst his creations. Comment: The spine or cover may be slightly worn but the book is otherwise in good condition and will provide thought provoking read!
