Let’s be honest, most of us don’t really read these at first, but whenever something goes wrong, there we are looking for the manual. Make sure to take care of yours once you receive your tablet. A surprisingly powerful Quad Core MTK8163 1.3GHz. It’s way more efficient than I expected for a tablet within this price range. I have seen some slower processing when I try to do too much at the same time, but it’s nothing that compromises the overall experience. At 2GB DDR3, the memory is even better than I thought. Although you don’t have the option of increasing memory size later on, I believe that these 2GB are more than enough to perform most of the tasks you would expect from a drawing tablet.

This is not the case with the Simbans PicassoTab, you can carry it and use it freely wherever you want without having to worry about connecting it to anything. The Simbans PicassoTab drawing tablet is literally the most affordable graphics tablet that has its own screen in the world. To make it as clear as possible, this is a much cheaper version the incredibly popular iPad Pro.

This is a kind of bag made of a material that simulates leather. It does not protect the drawing tablet from substantial damage such as falling from a table, but it does avoid minor issues such as scratches and so on. Productivity matters and although the Picasso SimbansTab has its disadvantages, they’re far outweighed by all the other advantages, like: speed, precision, price and overall user-experience. Look, we’re extremely close to a turning point when every single studio in the world will use tablets with screens. This is about to become objective reality. The bottom line is: if you would like to have a drawing tablet with its own screen, but don’t want to make a sizableinvestment, the Simbans PicassoTab is the best possible option available right now. This is possibly one of the weakest aspects of this tablet. The storage starts at a tiny 32 GB, but it can be upgraded up to 128 GB with a simple micro-SD card, which is highly recommended. These micro-SD cards are incredibly cheap and can be found anywhere. I’m going to use my own experience as an example. I will always choose a drawing tablet that has a screen over another that doesn’t. Seeing exactly where each line goes creates such a better experience that my drawing sessions become much more enjoyable and I get a whole lot more stuff done. If you take into consideration the technology and the raw materials that a device like the Simbans PicassoTab requires, it’s nearly impossible to release such a product and still be profitable. This means that not only can you draw on it, but also use it as an entertainment unit to watch Netflix or YouTube for example.

Like every other drawing tablet in the world, the Picasso SimbansTab comes with a pen that you can use to draw. I should mention that this pen is much inferior to what you will find in nearly all other tablets that were created specifically for artists. Anything from Huion or Wacom will be substantially better than what Simbans is offering. In terms of connectivity the Simbans PicassoTab offers nearly everything you could expect from any recent electronic device used for art creation. It has Wi-fi (a rare feature for a drawing tablet), Bluetooth (even rarer) and can also be connected to TV sets through a micro HDMI port. Curiously, this device has a feature that is extremely rare, even among much more expensive drawing tablets: you will be able to connect to any Wi-Fi network and, if necessary, to some TV sets through the micro HDMI port. The battery life is amazing. I fully charged this device once opening it from the box. I used the tablet to listen to music and draw and the battery lasted me two days. More than enough time if you needed to draw while on a trip. The charger comes with different adapters that allows the artist to charge their device in the United States, United Kingdom and the rest of Europe. While the 10.1-inch screen could never be considered large, it’s a pretty decent size for a multi-purpose tablet. I consider the active drawing area rather comfortable to draw on and shouldn’t be much of a problem as long as you’re willing to use the zoom option every now and then. Most people who work in the visual arts industry today (it doesn’t matter if we’re talking about comics, animation, design or movies) have started with the simplest possible drawing tablet, which used to be the Wacom Intuos (or any other similar product from the same company). While it’s possible to argue that there are a few advantages to owning one of the more traditional tablets such as the Wacom Intuos, it’s always a good idea to prepare yourself to deal with the challenges that await you in the near future.
