Before bedtime: Many people find that reading before bedtime helps them unwind and relax, which can promote better sleep. Book Genre: Adult, Contemporary, Dark, Fantasy, Fantasy Romance, Greek Mythology, Mythology, Paranormal, Retellings, Romance The characters are flawed, yet beyond perfect. The cameos and intersection of other stories is what I live for. I won’t go into details, but if you like that sort of thing, you’ll love this book. Ariana is such a badass, I love her vengeful persona and her soft heart which she shows very rarely. Cash being a lawyer is dangerous and he will go to anything just to save Ariana. His instant want for her was just so satisfying throughout the book.

To me, Cash and Ariana has had the best chemistry so far. I liked their banter and their soft moments. It was fun to read Arianna push Cash’s buttons. I went into this one completely blind. (I did read it as an ARC, I just decided to surprise myself when I was going to read it). And it did not disappoint. My other issue with this book is the plot line involving Ricci Inc. It was confusing and not pieced together well and ended up overshadowing everything and everyone in this book, for no reason. I felt like all of Ariana’s actions were obsolete which was frustrating. The plot twist wasn’t surprising and it wasn’t as impactful as I would have wanted. I just feel after everything Ariana went through, she didn’t get the justice she deserved. Cash didn’t treat her right either. Ugh. His actions were never explained to her. Granted nothing was explained to her, because they both never talked about anything except maybe sex? But even that was occasional. The only thing I wished the author should have maybe expanded on was why Ronnie, the driver was the first notified that Ariana’s dad was dead. Even Cash seemed confused as to why. There was a slight explanation, but it didn’t clear the issue entirely as Cash was still suspicious. I personally really liked this one is because I didn’t get lost or find bits of information confusing like I did in the previous two books. The plot in this book was just so much fun to follow. I was really invested in the world and how much world-building went into it. I just loved seeing what would happen next and I was very interested in seeing what it would be. This story just kept me super engaged in the story and I thought it was a lot of fun to read. The world in this book was just built very nicely and it gave the book such a fun element while I was reading and it just made me even more engaged in the story. And the spice? Well dang. It was hotter than a trip to a sauna. It was sexy as it was unique and dark. Perfection. And I devoured every second of it. This book got me from the start. I just read the prologue and I was so hooked. I already knew from the first lines that I would be into this story. This book has such a wonderful start and it was so gripping. I couldn't put this book down and I ended up reading the entire book in one sitting because I was so engaged in the story. It's been way harder for me to really get into books lately, so this was basically a miracle, so thank you book for that. When nothing else comes, I shift, clasping the cloth over her nose and mouth. She jolts awake, panic sending her limbs sprawling, but I press my weight on top of her, smothering her for several seconds. Let it be a reminder for my bratty little wife, should she think about stepping out on me. If I won't have her, no one else will either."

Despite the gorgeous cover, this one just didn’t have a similar feel as the others in the Monsters & Muses series. Honestly, If you’d told me prior to reading this book that any of the male leads would rival Jonas for my affections, I would have laughed in your face, then enters Cash. He’s basically imprinted on me because I finished this book a couple nights ago and he’s still on my mind. Ariana and Cash were both great characters. Individually. They had so much potential, but that wasn’t reached when they were together. There was very little romance in this book (as well as smut surprisingly). Even with 5% remaining I couldn’t tell if they really liked each other or enjoyed the other’s company. That could partly be because they never once talked about anything besides business. So when they kinda sorta confessed their “I love you’s” (wait did they?? 🤔) I did a double take. We didn’t get to really dive deep into their personalities enough which is such a shame. Also, idk if it was just me, but a lot of their characteristics felt contradictory. We love a strong man that can defend his wife, no matter the cost, but this one was a little strange. When you get into a fight and one has a gun, do you expect hint to shoot his driver? NO! I found that to be really far fetched and just weird. The was smut after, which was fine, but I didn’t really think the shooting of Cash’s driver was necessary, or believable at all. It just was so outlandish I got pulled out of the book.

Souls and Sorrows Summary

I had everything under control, but by the time I shuffled onstage, there was no chance to stop him.
