The Sennheiser are open-back, so they deliver less bass but have an otherwise very balanced, clear sound and open soundstage. Professional users all over the world have relied on the beyerdynamic classic series for years: DT 770 / 880 / 990 PRO. They come with more high-end cables and accessories and don't sound as sharp on vocals and instrumentals as the Beyerdynamic.

They also leak less audio and passively isolate you from more sound, although they aren't ideal for noisy environments. The beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO headphones have established themselves as a firm favourite amongst music producers, sound engineers and broadcasters and are used in studios all over the world. Sure, those too are long in the tooth and yes: they’ve got a lot of the same drawbacks as the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80Ω, but they’re time-tested and industry standard for the same reasons the Beyerdynamic cans have stuck around so long. While they're sturdily built, their poor noise isolation performance means you can hear external sounds like bus engines and other commuter noises. The Beyerdynamic have a slightly more accurate overall sound signature, but they can be slightly too sharp and piercing. The low frequencies are precise and powerful, without being overbearing, while top end is clear and very present without sounding shrill.

Thanks to its closed structure and good insulation, it significantly prevents external sounds and allows you to concentrate on music. beyerdynamic have gone to great lengths to make sure the DT770’s are comfortable to wear for long periods of time. Built in Germany to last the testing nature of life in the studio, using steel, durable plastics, and leather. At just 346 grams (including the cable), the DT 770 Pro 80 is astonishingly light despite its robust construction, and that means it can be worn without “fatigue” setting in during long studio sessions. The DT 770 PRO headphones is the range’s closed-back model and offers maximum flexibility and detailed sound that you can rely on.The Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO are decent headphones for wired gaming due to their detailed sound profile and their great bass and mid-range response. The Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO have a very neutral sound profile, which results in an accurate reproduction of vocals and lead instruments. This is a common practice; for instance, Denon (just the first example I thought of) would sell one receiver to specialty audio/video dealers, and an essentially identical receiver with a different model number to mass-market retailers. The lack of a detachable cable means that any breakage in it or the jack will require you to replace the headphones themselves rather than just the cable. However, the Beyerdynamic can be a viable option for gamers who don't need a mic, while the Astro are also a decent choice for mixing podcasts or live streams.

This will start your application with Klarna Retail Finance or V12 Retail Finance, our finance partners, and completing this form should take approximately 10 minutes. The DT770 has been around for decades and as such, has been tried and tested to the limit by some of the world’s biggest artists and music industry professionals alongside broadcasters. However, the Focal have a significantly better build quality that reflects their high-end materials and are more comfortable. The Beyerdynamic are better built, deliver audio more consistently across different re-seats, have a more neutral sound profile, which some users may prefer, and their passive soundstage is more immersive.

For producers and engineers, the DT770s can even be the difference when it comes to achieving a good mix.

Combined with the sound isolation from the closed back design, you’ll get accurate sound wherever you listen. In addition, the Pro version comes with a coiled cable and the Edition version with a stretched cable. The biggest difference is in their sound profiles - the Beyerdynamic sound quite bright, even piercing to some, while the Astro sound less sharp but are also a bit dark. The Beyerdynamic have an overall more accurate sound profile, although some people find them to be a bit overly sharp. If your goods develop a fault within the warranty period, we'll quickly repair or replace the item for you.

You don't get the same physical impression of bass because only your ears are involved, whereas with speakers it's your whole body, and the stereo image always seems to exist inside your head rather than in front of it, but for track laying late at night or for scrutinising a mix for imperfections, the DT770s are hard to fault. In fact, looking back on my audio journey and experience, this was one of the first headphones that really got me into the hobby--I was listening to it way before I even listened to the LCD-2, the headphone I first wrote a review about. While tracks like Barry White’s Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love, Babe will sound fantastic with this kind of tonality, you may notice some 90s and 00s-era mixes sound a little wonky due to the assumption of a more bass-heavy playback system. If you play music at a high volume, these frequencies are the most likely to leak into your environment.
