So, I literally live out of this bag and have for three years of full-time travel through more than 20 countries. Although the Farpoint/Fairview series isn’t necessarily designed for hiking, they are comfortable enough to take on hikes during your travels. Where to buy Osprey Farpoint 55 Support for a water bladder. A water system for trekking is not included, but you can easily add one if you want. The other common question I get is if the 40L carry-on size is big enough for certain trips. I think traveling minimally is great, but there are some trips where you might need a bit of extra space. If you are on the fence about how much space you need, then the Farpoint Trek 55 is a really nice step up from carry-on. The latest edition has an adjustable harness. This means you can move the harness up or down by up to about 3 inches or 8cm.

The Farpoint 55 Trek is ideal if you’re looking for a bag that you can use for travel and potentially for trekking as well. On the plus side, though, the lifetime warranty means I can get it patched for free. The only reason I haven’t is that the material is so high-quality the hole hasn’t grown at all in two years and I forget it’s there! It is available in just two sizes, both of which are too big to be considered a carry-on. And that is one reason why I’m not so impressed with the travel aspect of this bag. What are the differences? Well, the Fairview 40 has slightly smaller dimensions, but has been made more comfortable as it is designed for the female body. Also, the shoulder straps curve along the body, creating a better fit-for-women design.Osprey Farpoint Trek FAQs Osprey Farpoint VS Osprey Farpoint Trek – Which Should I Choose? The Farpoint and the Farpoint Trek, which one is for you? The Farpoint series is technically unisex, but there is now also the Osprey Fairview 40. This is a women’s specific edition with some tweaks for extra comfort.

When product pictures of the new Farpoint got released, I saw many comments on forums comparing it to the Osprey Porter. They do look a bit similar in pictures, but the Farpoint is absolutely NOT as structured or as stiff as the Porter. At this point, I consider our Osprey bags as part of my family because they were wedding gifts and have been a dependable companion to us through it all. The Trek opens from the side, like a suitcase. The items in the center are held together by compression straps, keeping everything else in place too. I’ve had the chance to use it both as a general travel bag and while trekking (the longest was a 5-day trek). It also opens suitcase-style from the side and not from the top, so you can always access everything very easily. This is perfect for when you mostly stay in hotels or in hostels. The Farpoint 55 and Fairview 55 are essentially the same product; the only difference is that the Fairview is a women’s specific version.

Initially, I was very sceptical about this combination but by testing this product I have had my mind well and truly changed. Whether to buy the Farpoint or Fairview 55 or another version depends on your space requirements and whether you’re into the 2-in-1 system. You can consider several configurations based on your needs: Integrated compression system. While the regular Farpoint which has no internal organization features, the Trek does have several.

Is the Osprey Farpoint 55 Worth the Price?

If I were going on a big round-the-world trip or gap year today — one that would take me through multiple climates — I would likely go for this set-up instead of just a single carry-on. Conclusion The frame in the Trek 75 is much like that of the original Farpoint. It is very unobtrusive yet still works incredibly well and makes carrying heavy loads a doddle.

No. The Farpoint Trek is the men’s version of the bag. The women’s version is known as the Fairview Trek and comes in two sizes, 50-litres and 70-litres.If you are spending a summer city hopping around Europe or Southeast Asia the standard Farpoint will suit you perfectly. On the other hand, if you are heading to South America and planning a few hiking trips, the Farpoint Trek will be much better suited to the task! There are also 70-liter versions, though I personally consider these too large for general travel purposes. Features of the Farpoint Trek 55
