that’s a great point about how Acelia wasn’t able to make the connection to Finley – it seems like they should have easily been able to connect the dots there. Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Expected Publication Date: 3/8/22. Marissa recalls how she knew Skip and Tina growing up. Skip is d) connected to Tina! After a night of drinking games, Tina was dead. The Connecting Factor Between Everything is… Skip!

Outside of sessions, she’s almost a stalker, nosing into the Bishop’s lives and pulling out all kinds of secrets. For their own good, I guess? I always love thrillers with hidden dysfunction and explosive secrets, so I loved reading this one, where basically everyone is lying. Marissa and Matthew Bishop definitely look like a golden couple, but nothing’s really how it seems. Avery’s whole therapy system is built around prying into her clients’ lives and pulling out their secrets, with no boundaries, but at the same time, Avery’s own life isn’t exactly smooth and aboveboard, either. Avery is no cop, but it is her job to find the truth. In her controversial “consulting” practice, she must uncover the lies her clients tell each other and themselves, and strip them bare so they can heal. When a rich, dazzling couple seek her help to save their marriage, she finds that their lives become entangled with hers in inexplicable ways.Who do you think the title really applied to after hearing who actually said kissing Marissa was like first seeing the ocean? But Abbie was too troubled to see clearly. Too damaged to see the dangers Tony Sharpe brought into her life. I was so excited to read this book! The twists kept me hanging on and I was really invested in the characters. The author's style of writing grabbed me and I couldn't stop reading! I put all my other books aside just to get to the ending. The authors are masters of character development and suspense, which makes it easy to keep on reading through the night just to see how things turned out. The plot was well developed, and I liked the idea of a therapist trying to help a broken marriage. The doorbell chimes, indicating the Bishops’ arrival, a few minutes late for our 7:00 P.M. appointment at my home office. The story unfolds through the alternating perspectives of Avery and Marissa, both smart, successful women, but all of the characters in the book, are well developed, and play a role in the outcome.

Matthew leaves for work and Marissa confesses to Avery that her fling was with someone she and Matthew have known for years. She says she can’t tell Matthew, but Avery insists she talk to the guy. I kind of started this book knowing that something like this was going to happen. Being my stupid self I ignored this bad feeling and kept on reading- not like I could have stopped- I was hooked from the start. But what if the both of parties keep dirty secrets. Well, don’t worry, Avery has eyes and ears in everywhere. She eventually finds out every dirty details! GH and SPs books have been either a hit or miss for me, with no in between. but the word is in and ‘the golden couple’ is a massive HIT! Avery tells Chris that he needs to make the investigation into Paul’s murder go away. Spoiler Discussion for The Golden Couple Avery is rattled. She met Skip right after she made the whistleblower call and now he’s both a) an old friend of Matt and Marissa and b) probably connected to Acelia. Avery is certain that Skip is also c) Marissa’s mystery lover. Skip has been very busy!

At the end, Marissa says, “Do you know what some people used to call us? . . . The Golden Couple.” What is the meaning behind the title, The Golden Couple ? Discuss the irony in the name. The next electrifying novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author duo behind The Wife Between Us. Few things are as they seem but I was not even close in my estimation of who would do what to whom. This book features Marissa and Mathew Bishop, a married couple who has come to see counselor Avery Chambers. Avery's unorthodox methods are known for getting results, but they aren't always aboveboard or appreciated. The crux of the problem is that Marissa has cheated on Mathew, and she wants to bring her infidelity into the open so that they can try to heal their marriage and move forward. But certain things make it seem as if the man she slept with won't let go so easily.Avery once was a therapist but she lost her license five years ago. She now is a consultant. She doesn't follow the rules. She also spies on her clients. Let’s do this! Here’s what is in this Spoiler Discussion and Plot Summary of The Golden Couple so you can find what you need.

Avery opens the door and Marissa and Mathew Bishop walks in. She starts the session the way she always does and asks the 'What brings you here tonight. She then takes three of the plastic cups out of her water cooler and fills each with a generous shot of tequila.

November Book Selections

A riveting cat-and-mouse game of a novel that explores the intricacies of marriage, and the many ways in which people lie to themselves . . . and others. This is a psychological thriller in every sense of the word' I'm actually so overwhelmed by the sheer amount of audacity and dumbassery these characters displayed, I don't know where to start.
