Description

In terms of making changing diapers as comfy as possible for your little one, the Leander Changer is our winner, followed by the Keekaroo Peanut. In addition to being strong, the material is also waterproof and antimicrobial. Liquids don’t soak into the surface of the changing pad, so you don’t have to worry about bacteria soaking deep into the surface and growing. If (or rather, when, not if) some liquid hits the changing pad, you can simply wipe it up, and clean it with warm water and gentle soap. If this Keekaroo Peanut Changer review tells you anything, it’s probably that the changing pad isn’t exactly the most unique or one-of-a-kind item in the world. But what it should also tell you is that the Keekaroo Peanut is also so convenient and handy for any parent who is still going through the diaper phase with their baby. Unlike the Keekaroo, this change pad is super lightweight, making it easy to move from change table to floor to bed as needed. I tried to weigh it on my home scale (which apparently isn’t very good). I had to weigh it a few different times, and it came out between 2.5 pounds to 3 pounds each time. The level of softness of the Hatch Changing Pad may vary based on personal preferences and expectations. While the Hatch Changing Pad is designed to provide a comfortable surface for diaper changes, it might not offer the same plush softness as some fabric-covered changing pads. However, it is constructed to ensure your baby’s comfort during changes, and many parents find it to be adequately soft for its purpose. If softness is a top priority, you might want to consider the material and construction of the changing pad in comparison to your preferences.

But Take Note: Some kids may rebel against the strap and wriggle onto their stomach out of protest. Additionally, I really like the simplified shape of the Matty changing pad. Don’t get me wrong – the peanut-shape on the Keekaroo is cute, but the simple rectangle actually gives baby more space to stretch and flop out, however their limbs want! Size: Before purchasing a changing pad, make sure that it’s the right size to fit either your changing table or the top of your dresser if you plan to use it this way. The changing pads on our list range from 29 inches to 36 inches long and 16 and 21 inches wide (with the exception of portable and disposable options that may be smaller). Easy to Clean: While not as resistant to damage as the Keekaroo Peanut, the Hatch Changing Pad is still easy to wipe clean. Elevated Edges: The raised sides of the Peanut provide a safe and secure space for your baby, preventing them from rolling off during changes.

If you'd rather us send you a return label, we are happy to! This will be deducted from your return amount. Unfortunately, I haven’t had a chance to use a Skip Hop Nursery Style Change Pad. If I do have the chance to try it out in the future, I’ll be sure to update this post. Safety Information: Keekaroo is a Member of the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA), and the Keekaroo Peanut Changer is test certified to the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standard F 2388, Standard Consumer Safety Specification for Baby Changing Tables.

However, the Leander Changing Mat is actually softer to the touch than the Keekaroo in my experience. Whereas my Keekaroo’s surface is slightly textured to the touch, my Leander Matty changer is smooth like butter when I run my hand over it. It seems like it would be far more comfortable for naked and delicate baby skin vs the slight texture of the Keekaroo. (worth noting, the Bumbo is also super smooth). Safety: Although you should always keep one hand on baby while changing them, safety features are important to consider. A non-skid bottom and attached safety strap are crucial for preventing roll-off falls if you plan on placing the pad on a flat surface without guardrails. You’ll also want to always choose a concave changing pad, according to AAP guidance. This ensures the sides are taller than the middle, which helps keep baby in place. The Keekaroo Peanut Changer is unlike any other diaper changing pad! Its strong outer shell makes it impermeable to ANY fluid, so clean up is easy. That solid shell on the diaper changing pad also limits bacteria growth or deterioration. Made from our state of the art, Dura Soft material, the Keekaroo Peanut Changer makes extra covers and pads unnecessary, saving money and clean up time.Additionally, I find the Leander changing pad equally squishy and supple compared to the Peanut (and definitely way squishier than the Hatch Smart Changing Pad and the Bumbo changer). Absolutely, the Keekaroo Peanut Changer is often considered worth the investment. Its unique and durable design, made from a special material, offers several advantages that set it apart. The Peanut’s resistance to punctures and tears, easy-to-clean surface, and elevated edges for added safety make it a popular choice among parents who prioritize quality and convenience. While it might come with a slightly higher upfront cost compared to traditional changing pads, many find that its longevity and practicality make it well worth the price for a hassle-free and comfortable diaper-changing experience. What Changing Pads Are Like the Keekaroo? In terms of the changer’s dimensions, the Bumbo is typically listed as measuring 4″ high by 17″ wide by 27″ long. Note, I originally wrote this post by personally testing the Keekaroo Peanut, Bumbo Change Pad, and the Hatch Baby Grow Smart Changing Pad and Scale, but not the Leander Matty. Now that I’ve also bought and have personal experience with the Leander Changing Pad, I’ve updated the post to reflect this! Affordability: The Hatch Changing Pad offers an attractive price point, making it accessible for families on a tighter budget.

There are a lot of changing pads out there: Some are high-end with bells and whistles, while others are simple yet effective for the intended purpose. Once you’ve decided on a budget and what features are important to you (such as having a pad you can wipe clean or one made of organic materials), it’ll be a lot easier to narrow down your decision. How we chose the best changing pads Non Slip or Attachable. To keep baby safe, it’s critical the pad is slip resistant if you’ll be using it up high on changing tables to keep baby safe. If it’s not anti-slip, ensure it’s secured in place according to manufacturer instructions. In fact, always follow the instructions from the maker! When it’s colder outside, the pad is naturally cooler to the touch, which can be uncomfortable for some infants but you can warm it up with a warm water pad. They’re both a more structured, wipe clean alternative to a traditional changing pad, soft to the touch, with contoured edges that can help babies feel secure while they’re getting changed. The material is spongy and soft (not at all like a hard rigid plastic).

In a word: yes. Investing in a wipe clean changing pad like a Keekaroo Peanut or Bumbo Change pad is worth it based on my personal experience owning several these changing pad brands. Overall, the Peanut actually performs reasonably well in terms of being non-slip (it’s much better than the Bumbo changer in particular).

I also really like the Hatch Baby Grow, and think it’s a super choice for families who want the added functionality of a baby weigh scale. While the Keekaroo is the original, Bumbo is like the original Keekaroo Peanut dupe. And while they look super similar at first glance, there are some key differences you’ll want to consider before purchasing. Finally, the Bumbo changer is a great “more affordable” choice for a wipe-clean baby change mat. It’s not my top choice, as I do like the other three better, but it absolutely gets the job done and is a solid option if you don’t want to shell out for one of the other three brands. While the Skip Hop changing pad is wipeable just like the other pads, it’s also got a little mobile to catch baby’s attention, which can definitely help make diaper changes a bit easier. Newborns can require a diaper change as many as 12 times a day, so a changing pad is a nursery must-have. This handy piece of equipment should ensure that diaper changing time is as safe and comfortable as possible for your little one. The best changing pad is one that's easy to use, easy to clean, and fits well into your space.Depending on your child’s height, their legs might be too long to comfortably lay on the changing pad without their feet hanging off the end.
