About this deal

Unstoppable Nightmare is weird , but it lets your monster immediately fight the first time a friendly unit within 6” is destroyed in the combat phase. You’ll probably have a good idea whether or not this is likely to actually trigger when you get to decide whether to use it, and the chance to be able to double fight with a Terrorgheist is pretty disgusting. Command Traits The Deathrattle Skeletons are a bit of a miss, but not entirely. While I don’t care for them as much as Deadwalker Zombies or Dire Wolves I think they have value, especially if you intend to play a more casual game. Get a Necromancer or Wight Lord to go with them and they’ll hold their own just fine. Final Verdict: Must-buy Lumineth Realm-Lords – Vanari Shining Host Overall the way I view this box that it’s quite good if you’re only interested in casual play. Almost everything in the box is matched by something else in the army that does the role better so this ends up feeling like a collection of second stringers. If you don’t care about an optimum build it’s a decent way to get a bunch of stuff together fast. Final Verdict: Good Value Ossiarch Bonereapers – Mortisan Tithe Echelon Anyway, there are 5 subfactions. As normal, it does not limit you from including anything, although some bloodlines are oriented toward a particular playstyle or grant additional battlelines. Many characters in the book are already part of a subfaction and you can include them in other stuff but they won’t gain the benefits of the legion. We’ll go over the traits of each legion and what that playstyle means, and a few choice artefacts and traits that might be worth looking at. For a full deep dive, we’ll work on a start competing within the coming weeks. Legion of Blood

Now, just because I am biased towards anything that resembles a dinosaur, we’ll start with the Seraphon formerly known as the Lizardmen. All these miniatures are brand new sculpts, all released earlier in the year, much needed updates on 30 year old sculpts. These ingenious engineers develop their craft even during battle, using their sorcerous skill to augment and refine their creations, protecting them from harm and granting them grim modifications. Battletome: Ossiarch Bonereapers This bellicose beast-baiter is the latest addition to the vampire dynasties in Battletome: Soulblight Gravelords. This book contains extensive rules for each of the major dynasties – the feral Vyrkos, the monstrous Avengorii, and noble Kastelaii, and the esteemed Legions of Blood and Night. On top of that, there’s also a Warscroll for the Askurgan Trueblades, the ascetic vampires found Bloodhunt, the most recent expansion for Warcry. These cunning artificers are the latest addition to the disciplined ranks of the Ossiarch hosts. Katakros and his underlings have been busy refining their tactics, sharpening their nadirite, and practising their magics to conquer the Mortal Realms for the Supreme Lord of the Undead. The army has a bit for everyone, from elite cavalry to hordes of skeletons or zombies, but the most effective way to play is to rely on its hordes, both as sacrificial pieces and as your hammer/anvil. The core gameplay is divided indeed in vampires and summonable units, setting a bit aside anything in between. Lore of the Soulblight Gravelords in Age of SigmarThe warlord Prince Vhordrai rules the Kastelai dynasty from the Crimson Keep . This phantasmal citadel manifests across the realms, disgorging banners of scarlet-armoured Blood Knights into the night. Fittingly for the Era of the Beast, the two other bloodlines find themselves empowered by the bestial energy of Ghur – the Avengorii and the Vyrkos. The first AoS battleforce on the list this year comes from the Seraphon. It provides a good number of the new Seraphon sculpts and a pretty solid start to an army. While we’re sure there’s plenty of existing Seraphon players who’d value this to bolster their current army, we think it lends itself more to a new player. Combine this box with a vanguard box for a strong melee force that could be rounded out with ranged units nicely. As a bonus you get the Hunters of Huanchi, which might not be a first choice for an army list but gives you the option of playing Warcry.

Including a whole carnival of weird and wonderful technological enhancements, this immensely customisable box can be built in so many different ways that it would be almost impossible to list them all. Including some trusty Skitarii infantry led by a Tech-Priest Manipulus, there are four units with two build options each – Sicarians, Serberys cavalry, Ptreraxii jump infantry, and a choice of either an Ironstrider Ballistarius or a Sydonian Dragoon. The possibilities are endless. The Lore of the Deathmages can be used by the Mortarchs, Necromancer and Torgillius with great options like Waste Away that reduces by 1 the enemy wound roll and damage characteristic or Prison of Grief that assigns the strike-last effect. This box does not do the slightest thing for me, but, admittedly, I have never had an interest in Slaanesh.

Kastelai Dynasty

Every unit in the army receives a ward of 6+ (meaning they can ignore a wound or mortal wound after a save failure on a 6) and there are few ways to improve it. Endless Nightmare is also quite niche, as you have to return 6 or more slain models to a summonable unit during the turn. There are limited ways to make this happen, so you will have had to build for it to make this work. Next up: the Units Some useful command traits options include Soul-Crushing Contempt, which gives -1 Bravery when within 3″ of the General, pairing well with Immortal Majesty. Premeditated Violence gives exploding 6s, which is always handy, though its probably going to compete with Walking Death which causes damage to convert to mortal wounds on 6s to wound!
