I have heard a lot about Katana's, so I gave this guy a try when I was looking for a practice amp for a small apartment. I was a great surprise!! I could not be more happy. It has a really nice clear sound, and great volume. But what surprised me it was the overdriven sounds. For low volumes, it truly delivers a nice round warm overdriven sound, that makes you enjoy practicing. Its really simple to use, and even have some on-board effects for even more fun while playing. With the dedicated time and level knobs, you can easily dial in all sorts of great delay sounds from subtle reverb-esque ambience to long, warm delay repeats. Portable Mini Amp Well, I believe Boss knew that as well. This is not the amp you want to drop or leave it lying on the stage at your next gig. It’s not made out of metal but the darn thing feels sturdy like something we would have played with as kids in the 80s…and I still have toys that survived like this. Personally, I think it’s simplicity makes it look like a mean little machine. I mean it looks like it means business…feels that way too. On the other hand, if you need to boost the already overdriven sound coming out of it and take it to the modern metal territory, then pedals will definitely help. How Long Do Batteries Last in Boss Katana Mini? All you need to do is set the delay time to zero and crank the level to near-full. Technically, this is a rapid echo that goes on for a long time, but it sounds very similar to reverb. Yes the reccomended AC adapter PSB-120 does add some interference that disappears when you touch the strings. I have tried hooking into a ground to the ground screw on the unit that I created in my shed but didn’t solve the problem. Also found this issue went away when you touch the ground screw on the rear. This is not a huge issue really, just slightly annoying…just keep your hands on the strings or metal parts on guitar. I just rest my palm on the bridge of my Stratocaster. This issue isn’t apparent when using batteries. I suggest using rechargeable batteries.

There’s nothing better on the market right now in this price range that even remotely interests me. Just but the damn thing…everyone needs one! The addition of a basic delay is what makes this amp is nifty to practice with. It gives your tone a little bit more space and makes it that much more pleasing to the ear - especially when you're practicing those Van Halen runs on the Brown channel. From Home To Hotel I gave 4 stars for quality because this amp is made 100% out of plastic; solid, hard but still plastic. I also give 4 stars for sound (if you take into account the size of the amp and how it plays than it should be 6 stars). For its price and size, the Katana Mini offers more than enough. Overall, I’m happy with the features.With BOSS’s decades of research in energy efficient design, the Katana Mini is able to provide incredible, class-defying power using only six AA-size batteries. And bar a few exceptions ( looking at you VOX!), you can expect average build quality and feel at best. The same applies here, too. Absolutely not! It’s what you can expect at this price. Besides that, the handle is large and firm enough. There is a minor con with this handle, which I’ll talk about in the “Portability” section.
