and may i just express my love for their conversations as well?? so many times i laughed like truly célie is so funny😭 Lastly, I would like to talk about writing for a moment. Shelby’s writing is so fantastic on all accounts. From her descriptions to her action scenes to the steamy scenes, she is a FANTASTIC writer. Like action scenes and steamy scenes are so hard to write and she nailed them? Legendary. There were some epic quotes in there too and I want them tattooed on my forehead. michal's response to celie helppp they had me dying actually these two🫶 also!! i adore the new characters we got to meet !! odessa, dimitri, d'artagnan, mila and monsieur marc <33 my favs were definitely mila and odessa i love those two queens. and i really want to see more odessa & célie moments because the potential for their friendship blooming more!! always saying yes to that. i cant technically say this is also a filler because its the last book, but it definitely has that feel for the bulk of it. i honestly dont know why this series wasnt kept as a duology. adding another book made the last two feel stretched out too thin and suffer content-wise. how it should have been: the last 1/3 of ‘blood & honey’ plus the first 1/3 and last 1/3 of ‘gods & monsters.’ it would have been a great conclusion like that! Gods and Monsters started weakly. I couldn't put past the first half of the book because the plot drew out into unnecessary parts, or that I believe it could be cut short into the major event. And I am not sure if I recall it correctly, but I can't seem to keep up with the shift in the storyline; from confronting and taking arms with Morgane le Blanc to saving a possessed Lou and helping to remember a memory loss Reid.

Celie is an incredible heroine - she is underestimated, overlooked, thought of as someone needing protection, to the point where she almost believes it herself, but her character development in this book is amazing. She is determined and kind and must learn what she wants out of life, particularly after the trauma she’s been through, and I adored her. To be honest, the word «pouffiasse» was not even the good word to use for this context. It is like a less vulgar variation of the word "slut". It is more a word used by people gossiping about someone, not during an interaction with the person in question.

In the first series, I loved Lou so much, especially in the first book. To me, Lou as an MC made so much sense and her mouthy, sassy and bratty behaviour enthralled me. On the other hand, I can't say I was (at least at first) Reid's biggest fan. He started being alright after a while and I loved his love for Lou, but overall, not really a strong MC, but he was a really good love interest choice for the enemies-to-lovers trope that I ADORE so much.

Two years ago, Louise le Blanc fled her coven and took shelter in the city of Cesarine, forsaking all magic and living off whatever she could steal. There, witches like Lou are hunted. They are feared. And they are burned. I don’t think I can say too much about the love interest without getting into spoilers, but prepare to add him to the list of your favorite broody heroes. Their relationship has serious Feysand meets Phantom of the Opera vibes, and I could not have enjoyed it more. The side cast of characters was just as amazing as the secondary characters from the first trilogy, and I can’t wait for everybody to meet them. The fandom will certainly not be disappointed. I loved Célie, I loved Michal, I loved the entire cast. I loved the storytelling, the gripping hold it possessed me with with its chilling sightings of spectres, grief, and heartbreak. I loved it all.Bound as one, to love, honor, or burn. Book one of a stunning fantasy trilogy, this tale of witchcraft and forbidden love is perfect for fans of Kendare Blake and Sara Holland. First, while having neither power nor any physical abilities, she supposedly is someone who thinks and does her research. Surprise, B#&ch: Incredibly restless, Lou decided to explore the Tower she now lives in with Reid. She’s forbidden, particularly, from entering the infirmary, so naturally she’s most curious about it. When she sneaks in, she runs into Coco (!!!), who took the identity of a healer to find her friend and ensure her safety. I'm extremely anxious at the moment; I mean, yeah those plot twists aren't that wow if you think of them but given the fact that SO MUCH is happening and you can't even catch your breath, you might actually get surprised by them plot twists; Second, another redeeming trait of hers should be that she always perseveres. But since she resolutely keeps making the dumbest choices, her determination soon reads more and more like childish petulance and stubbornness, than anything else.

So, let’s get to revisiting all the magic and romance that went down in the first installment of this enemies-to-lovers, witch and huntsman fantasy. She is vulnerable yet courageous. She may not possess the expected traits of heroines on the type of adventure she is thrust into, but she shows that she still has all that is required to take on such a journey. Your parents are alive but don’t love you, your sister is dead, and you loved this dude who left you for your best friend who you’re still besties withI came into this story without having read the Serpent & Dove trilogy, while I’m sure having read that would bring me closer to the recurring cast of characters, I thought this book provided enough context so it can stand very well right on its own. Truly this book shined so spectacularly on its own.

There is always something happening in this book: fights, travels, parlay, thieving, scheming. The pace is great and so is the plot. I read this whole book in a day and a half and I just couldn't stop because there was ALWAYS something going on! The last 20% of the book is so intense that I had to take breaks to fully appreciate and understand everything that was happening. My heart was pounding and I think my hands were shaking at one point. The final confrontation between Lou and Morgane was epic, and everything that I hoped for. Are You a Good Witch?: We meet Reid in the middle of battle. While it’s clear that Lou and Coco are just trying to get by in peace, the witches Reid is up against very much want to throw the world around them into chaos. And as Reid is captain of the Chasseurs, it’s his job to take them down.

And while this is a break off from the Serpent & Dove series, I don’t think it’s 100% necessary to have read the other books. The author does an excellent job at filling in the blanks like breadcrumbs throughout this story. Having some context to the past characters helped me though, (even just by reading book one)
