Description

After its banishment, the Gloamglozer moved to the Deepwoods and the Edgelands. It led Twig astray and tried to kill him, but the Caterbird rescued him. While it did not appear during the Rook Trilogy, it had such a fearsome reputation that the zealous Guardians of Night used its face as their symbol. Rook Barkwater believed that he could see it while wandering through the Edgelands, but this was probably a hallucination. a b Middleton, Christopher (4 July 2008). Shortly thereafter, Seftus Leprix and Bagswill toasted their newest plan with a bottle of sapwine. They discovered soon afterward that Tweezel, having discovered the sapwine they gave him was poisoned, regifted it to Seftus's servant, Jervis, and that they had been drinking their own poison. Their bodies swelled up and they floated off into Open Sky. The book ends with Maris telling Quint that Linius Pallitax and the Professor of Light have promised him a position in the Knights Academy for his valiant attempt to rescue Linius Pallitax.Quint, Linius' apprentice, was worried about his master's constant ventures into the Great Laboratory and wondered what he was doing each night in there. He one night followed him there, due to Maris, Linius' daughter's, concern, and heard a sobbing and Linius threatening something. Quint was worried, and believed Linius to be harbouring a cruel side. He decided he would find out himself what was inside the room. The Winter Knights: first published in 2005, it is the eighth volume of chronicles and the second of the Quint Saga trilogy; within the stories' own chronology it is the second novel, preceding the Twig Saga and Rook Saga trilogies that were published earlier.

It tormented humans and other creatures for years, before Kobold the Wise confronted it, armed with Chine from the banks of Riverrise, the starting point of all life, and damaged the Gloamglozer so intensely he reduced it to dust.

In the Czech Edge Chronicles, the gloamglozer's name is translated as 'Šerolichotník', 'šero' meaning dimness or the dawn, and 'lichotit' 'to flatter'. [7] The Edge Chronicles is a children's fantasy novel series [1] written by Paul Stewart and Chris Riddell. [2] It consists of four trilogies, plus four additional books, and other books related to the universe (The Edge). [3] The series was originally published by Doubleday, a subsidiary of Penguin Random House, [4] and has sold more than three million copies, according to its publisher. [5]

In German, the gloamglozer is called 'Schleimschmeichler'. Not only does this sound rather unpleasant but it literally translates to 'Slimy Flatterer' [5]. Moreover, the German verb 'schleimen' not only means 'to crawl' but figuratively, 'schleimen' also means 'to brown-nose one's way to the top'. When the city returned to the Edge, the Gloamglozer made illusions which seemed like the city was perfect and pristine and made the other Gloamglozers turn into aged academics in robes which made it seem like nothing had changed. But Nate, Quint's great-great-great-great grandson, realized something was odd, and he revealed the Gloamglozer's true forms and they all chased him to the top of the towers of Sanctaphrax. Nate was surrounded by the Gloamglozers, and they tried to kill him, but a Storm rolled in, and three Glisters came out. These turned into Quint, Twig and Rook, Nate's ancestors, of whom the Gloamglozers were deeply loathful of. Quint reached into the Gloamglozer's robe, and pulled out a Glister. This caused the first Gloamglozer and all his army of Gloamglozers to turn into dust.Midnight Over Sanctaphrax: first published in 2000, it is the third volume of the chronicles and of the Twig Saga trilogy; within the stories' own chronology it is the sixth novel.

In the Ukranian translation of the Edge Chronicles, the gloamglozer is called 'Темнолесник', which means "the being from the Darkwoods', 'Darkwoods' referring to the Deepwoods. [9] Alternatively, it may mean "the lord of the Darkwoods".

The first three trilogies were released over the course of 1998 to 2006, with a standalone saga serving as a conclusion to the first two ages of flight and a beginning to the third released in 2009. [3] The series was planned to end after the tenth book, [8] with the author's blog, Weird New Worlds serving as the continuous adventures with weekly 'chapter' installments. [9] After the completion of the 66 chapters of the blog, the authors decided to revisit the series with the fourth trilogy which would adapt the characters and stories from the blog, with the first and second books released in 2014 and 2015 respectively. The series also includes a number of short stories, along with a companion book. [ citation needed] Books [ edit ] The Quint Trilogy [ edit ] You see, the Edgelands hold a certain terror for me, for it was there that I met the Gloamglozer - and lived to tell the tale. In Dutch, the gloamglozer is called the 'schermergluiperd' which can be translated as 'twilight-creeper'. The Edge Chronicles Maps Detail 'The Edge' during the first and second age of flight covering a time period from before Cloud Wolf until some point in time between The Blooding of Rufus Filatine and The Immortals.
