Hi. Sorry I've spoken to my supervisor and we'd like to put you on the priority list since your mental illness is more advanced. The waiting list for that is 4-6 months." Roman is clearly living a highly privileged life and I don't begrudge him that. That being said it doesn't put him in a good position to write a book on the subject of mental health for the masses. Possibly the best part of the book I read was that in which he shares his experiences of his friend and colleague dying by suicide. This is real and an experience that cuts across class divides. That being so folk in Roman's position are very much better equipped to cope with loss since access to mental health support in the UK and much of the world depends, to a large extent, on how wealthy you are. Roman simply can't speak to the experiences that the majority of those struggling with mental health face and as such the book perpetuates the narrative that if we all just got our mates talking a bit more or went for an extra walk everything would be alright. The worst sections of the book could be considered insulting to those of us who've suffered with mental ill health. In the section on money, Roman readily admits he could come across as a "privileged arsehole". He then goes on to prove himself right by stating in the section on the royal family "the Royals endure all of the same human hardships the rest of us do". I've never met a Royal (Rowan has) and I don't have any reason to doubt that it is his honest opinion that they're good people, but to make the aforementioned statement, it's just objectively not true. This is the point at which I gave up on the book because he is clearly not thinking in much depth about how this might land with ordinary folk. Even in the case of loss which Roman discusses in this section it does not have as great an impact on those in positions of wealth and power such as the royals for the simple reason of them having functionally unlimited funds with which to procure themselves the best psychological support there is. I love that,” Roman responds. “The two ok rule. If you don’t mind, I’m going to use that. I wish I’d said to Joe, 'Mate, I know you know this but I’m going to tell you again. I am that person that you can talk to about that stuff…'”

As well as information from medical professionals there are interviews Stacey has done with various people who are experiencing MH problems. The call comes in the lead up to R U OK?Day, Thursday 9 September , a national day of action that reinforces the importance of staying connected with your friends, family and colleagues through all life’s ups and downs, big or small. R U OK? is providing guidance on the times people might need to be asked ‘are you OK?’ and how you can make a meaningful moment through having an R U OK? conversation. There is an old adage about the cobbler who had no shoes. It can be easy to not do for yourself what you do for a living. My favorite thing about this book is how it defies that stereotype. Debra is honest about her own struggles and transparent about her journey to implement the practices that, as a professional counselor, she advocates for you and me to do. I hope and pray that as you embark upon this journey, you will open your heart, soul, mind, and strength to all that Jesus wants to do in you. I am confident that greater joy and peace are waiting on the other side. Levi Lusko

OK! Magazine Roman Kemp not ready for love as he needs to - OK! Magazine

Good, thought-provoking read about how what you believe shapes how you act, connect and live. Fileta dug deep into how your past can color who you are today and how to overcome that as a believer in Christ. I appreciated her candor and enjoyed the self examination questions at the end of each chapter. I both listened to and bought a hard copy of this book. I plan to give the hard copy away to a friend who would benefit from it when I get the chance. In the journey of personal growth, self understanding and discovery are part of a strong foundation on which to build healthy lives encompassing all dimensions of wellbeing: mental, emotional, physical and spiritual.Speaking on the show, he said: "I remember just saying, 'that's it I can't sit and have the platform that I have and not do anything.' This book offered a some really good resources and helps guide you through a plan to start a path of healing. Each section delved into a different area: emotional health, spiritual health, mental health, and physical health; and each chapter had journaling questions to help you reflect on what you may be feeling.

Roman Kemp would love to replicate his parents Martin and Shirlie’s true romance after a string of failed relationships. But even though he is tentatively on dating apps, he admits he’s not yet ready for a relationship. Negative thoughts lead to negative feelings, which ultimately lead to negative behaviors.... Because human beings are holistic, there's a strong connection between our bodies, minds, and emotions. (p65) What truly stands out in this book is the real life voices, stories of individual battles from inspirational people. TW: This article focuses in some depth on the subject of suicide, so please be advised if you think this might be triggering for you. Whether you’re looking for answers to your own questions or seeking to explain the scientific evidence to others, The Comprehensive Guide to Science and Faith is an invaluable apologetic tool that will help you analyze scientific findings in light of the truths found in the Bible. The research also found that seven percent of those surveyed felt it’s a conversation you don’t need to have unless someone seems to be in a really bad way, or in crisis. I love all of Stacey Dooley's documentaries so I naturally had to read this book. I do have her first book on my kindle which I haven't read yet. This one was excellent. Incredibly insightful regarding a number of mental illnesses and the experiences of people who have them and the treatment of them. This was actually a very refreshing read. It was nice to see a young male be completely open and honest about his experience of mental health and depression. With suicide being the biggest killer amongst young men in the uk, this book was well overdue.
