Description

Each book in the series focuses on a new crime for DCI Ryan and his team to solve, all the while developing Ryan's character and personal story.

The prequel story to the DCI Ryan series, The Infirmary, is released only on Audible, in a very different way than the previous novels. M. Kaye whose novel Far Pavillions she read for hours at a time enchanted by the vivid descriptions and the romance. This frees her from working out deals with publishers and agents, with paying them and getting less money due to printing overheads. Panic spreads like wildfire as a new serial killer is born, and Ryan’s band of detectives must work around the clock to unmask him before he can strike again. And this sparked in her creation of a draft, upon which she wrote a manuscript that she sent to various agents and publishers.

Ross loved books from a very early age when she would find old books from her mother’s chest that she would staple and illustrate during her middle school years. Having read the entire D C Ryan series (in sequence) and living in the north-east, I truly enjoyed the locations and learned so much more that I new about the places. The DCI Ryan Mysteries are set in Northumberland, which is a region of England that the author is particularly familiar with, given that she grew up there. Currently, Louise Ross lives in Northumberland with her husband, James, whom she met while in King’s College in London, and their son, Ethan, while she is working on her next bestseller.

Each book offers a new mystery for DCI Ryan to solve, keeping the reader hooked from the first page to the last. This is the 30th book, but considering Alex has survived "Kill Alex Cross" before, chances are he survives this one. Some of the inspirational authors for her novels have been Agatha Christie, Arthur Conan Doyle, Jim Thompson, and M. Struggling to find a killer that is hiding in plain sight, while navigating small town politics and pagan rituals that muddy the waters, romance is blossoming between the two tortured souls, threatening to slow down the investigation. I have just started reading the Alexander Gregory books onto my second one,and enjoying them too, think they all are a great read, and love the connection in your books with both of the main characters. He is now back in action trying to decipher just who would kill a girl and place her in the strangest position, in a community that barely had 200 people.

Apart from the editing, which her husband proudly did, she did not have to pay anything, and was pleasantly surprised when the novel took off. After practicing law for nearly ten years in London, the stressful environment and the long hours began to take their toll. With the author writing 2, and at times even 4 books a year, it is no wonder that the DCI Ryan series includes already 13 novels since its creation 4-5 years ago, and the new Alexander Gregory series already having three novels which began in 2019. The story lines and characters move me to each venue, with ease ,and I know each one now as if we are old friends. All Gregory wanted is some peace and quiet after the scandal from before, but now he has to help those in need once again. Book 10 Frank doesn’t smoke and has been married 6 months , book 11 he’s having a cigarette and still why with makenzie! I would point out, to those reading the above blurb, that, although the DCI Ryan books are mainly set in Northumberland, some of his cases bring him as far south as Durham City and Teesdale.

To read more about the site or if you want a graphic to link to us, see the about page for more details. The DCI Ryan series of novels all feature some very well known locations across the North East of England. The first DCI Ryan Mystery book, Holy Island, introduces Detective Chief Inspector Ryan who wants to relax in Holy Island after he has taken a sabbatical from his job as a homicide detective. J. Ross, though she was still unsatisfied with her career that would not give her the flexibility she desired to have as a mother. Once she graduated from high school, LJ Ross moved to London to study law at King’s College, where she got a master’s degree in law. I have just finished The Bay in the Summer Series with the same delight as I spent many happy years holidaying in St Ives and as I am now too old and fragile to travel I felt the warmth and joy of those times.
