In this case, the new router is worth every penny, and its top Wi-Fi performance is the icing on the cake. Also, if you have a lot of IoT devices then I’d recommend a wireless access point that supports multiple VLANs, so you can isolate the IoT devices in a separate VLAN for security reasons. The GT-AXE16000 is only better because it has better performance, more Multi-Gig ports, and is pretty much bug-free, as mentioned.

While the latter is a little slow compared to rivals, it’s worth remembering that once the ‘new’ Wi-Fi 6E connection technology settles down, this router has a great deal more headroom to go faster. To test this theory out, I explicitly set channel widths on the second 5g network, and connected an AX capable device to it. Late last year, I published the review of the Netgear Orbi RBKE960 series, and TP-Link announced its Archer AXE300 earlier this year. We do have all the Ethernet cable as CAT7, but due to our physical location, both ISP as going to under 1G. This router has the AIMesh functionality … does a dedicated mesh router like the Asus ZenWifi pro et12 have any benefits over the GT-AXE16000.Generally, that's the best real-world sustained Internet speed of a 2x2 Wi-Fi 6/6E adapter — there was no faster Wi-Fi adapter at the time of this review. Presently, it's as good as a Wi-Fi router can be, and we likely have to wait till Wi-Fi 7 to have more capable hardware. That’s probably because there are more than ten 5GHz Wi-Fi network around my home which is causing congestion to the 5GHz band.

The point is, taking the Quad-band notion aside, the GT-AXE16000 still gives you a lot to brag about. My test 4x4 AC adapter (an Asus PCE-AC88), on a Windows 10 machine, couldn't connect at first — while it could connect to other routers. thought I would take this opportunity to upgrade to 6e but can’t find actual confirmation if the Asus GT-AXE16000 supports vlan id tagging. Measured using WiFi 6 client connected at 200 Mbps to WiFi 6 router with RangeBoost Plus, compared to same WiFi 6 client connected at 200 Mbps to WiFi 5 router without RangeBoost Plus. For flexibility on a network, it can also be configured to perform a variety of tasks: router, repeater, access point, media bridge and AiMesh.

You're presumed and expected to have read this page in its entirety, including related posts and links in previous comments - questions already addressed will likely be ignored. There is also evidence that hardware vendors will largely skip over Wifi 6E and go directly to 7- notwithstanding the few devices that now have 6E. I want to wire my home so i can have a router at 2 meters hieght in the dinning room which is in the bottom of the I before the _ of the L. In all fairness, aside from our quite aggressive "Torture test" consisting of ten 8K videos and a simultaneous game, the router is able to play 1080p video streams smoothly without any issues when not overloaded. Apart from the usual affair, there are things like VPN routing for selected devices and even support for Wireguard VPN right from the router.

Ethernet LAN interface type: 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Ethernet LAN data rates: 10,100,1000,2500,10000 Mbit/s, Cabling technology: 10/100/1000Base-T(X). That’s a bullshit test, Broderick, so is the general idea of one router is better than the other in fixing “bufferbloat”. This is not a great long-term solution to have to keep those channels off and I bet they will fix it with firmware but sharing if others experience this problem. ASUS continue their legacy of making wireless router with great performance and being really stable at the same time.I tested the wired speeds with Thunderbolt 3 10Gbe adapters to the PC from two different manufacturers and got the same result. Dual 10G ports – Enjoy up to 10X-faster data-transfer speeds for bandwidth-demanding tasks with two 10 Gbps WAN/LAN ports. I live in a ~2700sq ft home and want to create a mesh network using the AXE16000 as the parent node. However, there's no SFP+ port, which might make current owners of the RT-AX89X unimpressed, even disappointed.
