Lori Spengler - Lori is the real Babyface Killer and was the person killing Tree. She initially tried to kill Tree with poison but resorted to using the costume and hands on method once that failed. Lori was a student at Bayfield University, a nurse at the campus hospital and the roommate of Tree Gelbman. Even though she always acted nice to Tree, she actually held a deep hatred for her, as well as Tree's snobby and obnoxious attitude. However, once Tree started having an affair with her Professor, Dr. Gregory Butler (who Lori had also sought an affair with), her hatred boiled to the point that she wanted to kill Tree and anyone that stood in her way. According to TMZ, the guy who created the New Orleans Pelicans mascot (you know, that giant King Cake Baby thing) claims Happy Death Day stole his mask.

Tree's final suspect is Gregory. However, while she is the hospital after passing out, she gets an x-ray which reveals some of the injuries she sustained while being killed in the previous loops. Tree searches through Butler's office to which she finds a baby mask. Then, Lori dressed as the killer appears and kills Gregory before chasing Tree. Tree manages to escape, but when she is pulled over by a police officer while driving away, she volunteers to be arrested to avoid the killer. Lori appears and runs over the cop before dropping a birthday candle on the leaked gas of the car which explodes and kills Tree. "Happy Death Day Is Familiar but Fun". Rotten Tomatoes . Retrieved October 13, 2017. Upon its release in 2017, the Blumhouse Productions film Happy Death Day took people by surprise, becoming a hit with audiences and at the box office. With the sequel, Happy Death Day 2U, seeing its theatrical release this week, director Christopher Landon talks about the now iconic baby mask, worn by the killer, and the other design they considered. The film, initially entitled Half to Death, is based on an original story created by screenwriter Scott Lobdell. It was first announced in June 2007, to be produced by Michael Bay and Rogue Pictures, and directed by Antti Jokinen. [5] Christopher Landon was hired to rewrite Lobdell's original screenplay. Landon said, "The movie was in pre-production or soft production at the time, and I came on and I loved the concept of the movie. I loved the idea of a girl, trapped in a time loop who has to solve her own murder." [6] The project was only revived years later, as original producer Angela Mancuso had lunch with Landon and remembered Half to Death. Landon decided to send the script to Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions, with whom he had worked in the Paranormal Activity sequels, and he approved it, leading to a green-light by Universal Pictures. [6] Blumhouse announced the project on October 11, 2016, with Landon directing and Jessica Rothe cast in the lead role of the film. [7] On November 8, 2016, it was announced that Ruby Modine, Charles Aitken and Rachel Matthews had joined the cast, alongside Rothe and Israel Broussard. [8] The film got eventually retitled Happy Death Day in June 2017. [9]EXCLUSIVE: Michael Bay Wants to Scare You Half to Death". FilmJerk. June 14, 2007 . Retrieved June 16, 2021. On her way to her own room, Tree runs into a guy she went out with named Tim (Caleb Spillyards). He asks Tree why she hasn't answered his texts, and she says because their one date involved them going to Subway and it made her miserable. Tree goes to her room and sees her roommate Lori Spengler (Ruby Modine). Tree realizes she is late for class and frantically gets ready. Lori then presents her with a cupcake she baked for Tree. Tree blows out the candle and dumps the cupcake in the trash because of the carbs. The WHO recommends that you clean hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water before putting on a mask.
