The mainstay of any Kruleboyz tribe are the vicious and fearsome orruk fighters known as Gutrippaz. Whether you’re after reinforcements for an existing unit or you need a solid force of warriors with which to overwhelm your enemies, the 10-model Gutrippaz kit has you covered. Marshcrawla Sloggoth Covertly shift this hulk into an ambush position, then splat your enemies with those clubs. Given the troggoth’s bulk, Mork would be proud. Beast-skewer Killbow Well – he hasn’t changed. Or at least not substantially. You still get +1 damage on a unit, and it still just happens, and if your opponent brings Sentinels you still cry. Overall I think most IJ players would happily settle for this – the army would need a complete retool if that went away, and there was a concern the damage might disappear with no recompense. That didn’t happen, so today is a good day and the fundamentals of what Ironjawz do (read: wild DPS) remain in place.

Wound rolls of 6 (melee only) do mortal wounds equal to the damage characteristic – not too shabby at all. I’d be going with one of these two – RIP Bonegrinz. Spells Every week sees amazing animations, shows, and content added to Warhammer+. On the way soon, there’s a closer look at True Metallic Gold effects on Citadel Colour Masterclass, a HUGE narrative Warhammer 40,000 Battle Report set on Iax , and the fourth instalment of the jaw-dropping Angels of Death series. You could run the Rogue Idol I guess, although there’s not much point now; losing the access to the flying spell is the final nail in the coffin for the big fella. Vale, Pebbles. List Building On the flip side to the powerful warlord traits, these artefacts are mostly underwhelming. They’re all once per battle use and are fairly narrow in their effect. The clear standout is Mork’s Eye Pebble , which grants a 5+ ward bubble wholly within 12” of the bearer for the duration of an enemy’s shooting phase. This would have been a heartbreaker in 2nd edition, but thankfully the generic options are strong enough that it isn’t really a big deal. Have you heard about that Amulet of Destiny ? It’s pretty good. player, 5-round Grand Tournament in Alpine, California US on February 25 2023. All the lists for this event can be found in Best Coast Pairings. The Showdown

Designers’ Commentary

Oh and I haven’t even mentioned that you can recycle units through the Loon shrine to keep the value train rolling. Mathew Swinney – Stormcast Eternals – 2nd Place You’d still take a single big unit of Savage Orruks to gum up the board on the 4++ aftershave turn, and I’d spend my last reinforcements on a couple of units of 4x Big Stabbas. You’ll definitely want the rend spell in there too. If you choose a Kruleboyz army, all ORRUK WARCLANS units in the army must have the KRULEBOYZ keyword. If you choose an Ironjawz army, all ORRUK WARCLANS units in the army must have the IRONJAWZ keyword. If you choose a Bonesplitterz army, all ORRUK WARCLANS units in the army must have the BONESPLITTERZ keyword. If you choose a Big Waaagh! army, you can include any units with the ORRUK WARCLANS keyword in your army. Record your choice on your army roster. Models – Possibly the most Important factor from a practicality standpoint: do you want to spend your time and money on these models? Will you actually want to sit down and complete them, or are you just getting them because some dorks on the internet said they were good? This is something that often stops me from taking the most “optimised” lists because, no, I do not want to sit and paint the same unit 20 times over. Also, if you missed it in the Stormcast Eternals review, the battletome comes with a code to redeem the book in the Age of Sigmar app when it debuts, like 40k’s Codexes do. To my knowledge Games Workshop has not announced this so that’s awesome to know! Matched Play

Feels weird to put this one at the beginning but this is about the only thing that is universal in the book so let’s put it here. The Mount Traits here are for both Kruleboyz and Ironjawz and good news they are bonkers. Like, there’s so many good ones it’s going to be hard to choose. Well that’s a strange one… granted I’ve not really tried to write a Big Waaagh list yet because I’m having so much fun with Ironjawz – who can’t take ‘Dobby’– but also because it plays very differently to AOS2, in that I am reasonably certain it is much slower to build up the Waagh points.Second, and at the top of the App list is an auto-slay ability like the Sons of Behemat have. This one is the slightly weaker version in that we need to roll twice the model’s wounds – so we’re not killing characters – but it does have a massive benefit… It goes at the end of the combat phase – sure you have to survive and if ‘Dobby’ is in combat you might be in trouble in the wider game, but it is a 2″ reach that can break coherency. So on a 5 model unit on 32mm bases in a line killing one of them can cause another 2 to flee due to coherency problems. Best used as a threat, or as a Hail Mary play but certainly not something to ignore. The Wardokk is basically the same (yay!) but he lost the Priest keyword (boo!). His access to Curse was the main thing keeping the army afloat competitively, so it’s a body blow to lose that. I’d rather have lost his status as a Wizard, to give the army a range of tools, but that is not the flavour of this book unfortunately. Still your most efficient little dude though. Battleline You know what got better though? The Great Big Green Hand of Gork which does what it did before, teleport a unit anywhere on the field except now it applies to Orruk units. This greatly expands its versatility in Great Waaagh! and is basically an auto take. Tobias Kempf – Disciples of Tzeentch: Another Incarnate summoning list, this one using Eternal Conflagration to buff up the shooting of it’s 10 Pink Horrors Jonathan Roberts – Lumineth Realm-lords (5-0): It’s the Helon Teclis list you’ve seen the past month or so on this column, with Gnashing Jaws and a unit of Wardens instead of 10 more Sentinels than typical

First up is the regeneration – this is standard Trogg regeneration and whilst it’s not brilliant it does mean that the Marshcrawler is mostly immune to ‘chip’ damage (occasional mortal wounds throughout the game), and his Troggoth keyword does mean he gets some benefit in Gitz from the Bad Moon. Let’s be fair it a good ability on a 12 wound model, which is a good bonus.

Assembly Instructions for Marshcrawla Sloggoth – Warhammer Age of Sigmar (AoS).

Speak the truth (or lies) with the most kunnin’ of all the Kruleboyz . Gobsprakk is the de facto leader of the entire faction, and his Corpse-rippa Vulcha, Killabeak, is a potent symbol of his high status. The red shields and generic option, these guys get the special rule Out of the Mists , that means that during the first battle round they are not visible to your opponent’s units while they are more than 12” away. Really interesting choice in the mirror match and against most of the prominent ranged units in the metagame right now. Big Yellers Gaps – Are there any threats that your army is not able to deal with? Can it reasonably take on monsters as well as hordes? Is it able to hold objectives while doing so? This may not be apparent at first and will take some practice, but is good to keep in mind. After years of collecting, buying and selling, building and painting, we realised that we had amassed a small library of Build Instructions, Assembly Instructions and User Guides for various Games Workshop products.

This army takes advantage of your monsters working with your sub-factions special rule, they are going to be your hammer and anvil for your army. Your Gutrippaz can clean up or work as a screen for your heavy hitters if needed. JoeK: this Book is gonna see play for a long time, As it’s old book has before it. 18-20 wound mawkrushas, buff heroes, mortal wounds, ignoring wards, sneaky bois and some not so sneaky toys… I think orruk players are gonna have a field day with this book. And we will see a ton of lists come out of this. Still switches off Wards, and it now specifies both wounds and mortal wounds. Gotrek hates it, the Amulet hates it, and that makes it pretty nice in my eyes. Icebone Right now, I’d be looking at Icebone for sure. Lots of units of MSU pigs fanning out sideways to act as layered screens, with a couple of MSU Maniaks for the action. I’d be aiming for very low drops with the Great Hunter Command Trait (which is exponentially more valuable when you know who has first turn) and the 4++ ward artefact to keep alive until he calls the Waaagh! First let’s look at what you can add in to your army, using what you got in Dominion first for a fully-Kruleboyz army lead by Gobsprakk there’s plenty of wiggle room here if you’d rather have a Killaboss on Vulcha or a Suldgeraker instead! The list uses the Big Yellerz sub-faction to get those Boltboyz for battleline as well as making them and the Kill-bow more reliable in the first turn with extended range and some re-rolls to hit.Keen students of the Savage Waaagh will notice that the fan-favourite Big Wurggog Mask has disappeared from the artefacts table. What’s neat is that your Wurggog Prophet now brings it along on his warscroll. How cool is that! It does make sense because, I mean, look at him…he is wearing the Mask. or a Killaboss on Corpse-rippa Vulcha, you couldn’t ask for a more impressive – or powerful – leader for your Kruleboyz. This kit is perfect for being both your army’s centrepiece and its greatest asset thanks to a whole host of powerful rules . For the uninitiated, this Mask is basically a mini game where you keep doing mortal wounds as long as you keep rolling 3+s, but if you roll a 1 or 2 you cop them instead (you’re no longer insta-slain). You keep going as long as you want, or until one unit dies – the ultimate staring contest. It costs you all of your spell casts, but it’s a great piece of fan service and a whole lot of fun. I’ve got loads of stories from running this thing over the years, believe it. The first of these to get an article were Rippa’s Snarlfangs– the Grot Underworlds Warband for Gitz… that can be used by Orruk Warclans. The second is the topic of today’s discussion – Marshcrawler Sloggoth. Two may be overkill, but I’ll never know unless I try! So far we know we know very little about Realms of Ruin, aside from a press release’s promise of it being an RTS that will feature “a diverse range of mission types and modes”. Maps will feature Arcane Conduits, resource-providing control points which must be fought over for control. This feature, combined with small-but-highly-detailed unit models and a camera that can zoom right in on the action, suggests that Realms of Ruin could well be the Age of Sigmar answer to 2004’s beloved Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War.
