if I'm not mistaken, the board book version doesn't omit anything, it just condenses the story onto fewer pages(by squishing three pages onto one, think comic book style). This is an entertaining, rhyming story about a duck who gets stuck and all the other animals come to his rescue. The story builds well, with a duck, stuck in the muck and how he tries to enlist the help of passers by. Rhyming helps children play with words and language and helps them be develop skills necessary to decode and read words. A companion to the Reading Together series, Math Together offers young children and their parents an integrated approach to mathematical concepts.

I thought that it had a teachable 'moral' about being kind towards people who need help, and I really liked the way that the illustrations were laid out on each page. Even at three years of age the children recognised and followed the rhyme and by the end, even began to anticipate the text. Fortunately, there is a nearby lake and at this very moment a clever goat floats by relaxing in his boat.Fix-it Duck is another favourite too, they have really comical storylines, which are enjoyable for the adults doing the reading too. The illustrations are lots of fun and the children loved seeing the animals and how they did their best to help duck. Toddlers follow the texts and storyline easily, with clear pictures illustrating each of those lines. The duck is kind of rude, nevertheless, it is a really funny story about helping out fellow creatures (or not). It would be a great story to tell to a younger class and engage them by asking what they think might happen next before turning the page. Although duck is a bit rude at the end of the story (he driving off leaving the other animals stuck in the muck), this could lead to some valuable discussion about being nice to others who try to help even when we’re feeling frustrated.
