Regular meat such as pork, dogs, monkeys, snakes are considered as haram in islam, these meats are not permissible to be consumed as they are considered unclean. According to the Smithsonian, if you go to Ireland today, you won’t see Irish people eating corned beef, especially on St. Patty’s Day. And although there was a time when corned beef was produced in great quantity in Ireland, that corned beef was very different than the one we know today. On the other hand, regular meat can be any dairy product and they can be consumed as well but not for muslims. Most corned beef recipes don’t specify which cut to buy, just to choose a piece that has some nice fatty marbling running through it.

Halal meat is the product of farm animals that meet Islamic rules and guidelines and are allowed for consumption usually refered to as Zabiha halal meat. Halal meat is not to be slaughtered with the use of machines or any other ways that are accepted in the islamic way. For a meat to be considered halal meat it must be slaughtered by hand, using a razor-sharp knife and blessing must be said before taking the life of such animals, the blood must be completely drained and washed with clean water since islam forbids consumption of blood. But first the brining part. Combine the water, pink salt, sugar, garlic and salt in a large pot. Take half of the brining seasonings and add them to the pot. Set the other half aside to use for cooking at a later date. Bring the water to a simmer, stirring until the sugar and salts have dissolved. Remove the pot from the heat and allow to come to fully come to room temperature. Refrigerate the brine for an hour or two until it’s completely chilled, then place the brisket in the brine. Refrigerate the brisket in the brine for 4 days. The flat cut is less fatty, with the fat in a layer on the bottom. It’s also usually more expensive since it is more attractive and easier to slice nicely.

How to brine Corned Beef

They can be killed in any way but mostly in countries like the US, the techniques which are mostly used in slaughtering animals are a slaughtering machine, captive bolt, electrical techniques and stunning guns. To obtain halal certification, Delimondo corned beef must meet strict criteria. This includes ensuring that all ingredients used in the product are halal and that they have been processed in a clean and hygienic environment. Additionally, the animal used for the beef must have been slaughtered in a humane manner, with the name of Allah being invoked during the process.

Beef brisket comes from the breast section of the cow, under the first five ribs. Brisket is sold boneless and is great for slow cooking and braising. There’s 2 sections of brisket; a point cut and a flat cut. The point cut tends to be more flavorful since it has more fat running through the meat than the flat cut. It’s great for shredding. Regular meat in most cases are mass processed, they are mostly killed in cruel ways such as penetrating captive bolts, gas stunning and electricity are mostly used in countries like the US. this process of killing animals are not accepted in islam as it is counted as inhumane. As you know, corned beef is traditionally made of brisket, which is a great cut to slow cook. And that is, and always will be, my favorite cut for corned beef! You will sometimes find store bought corned beef made with round or rump roast, but – in my opinion – that doesn’t compare to brisket in both flavor and texture. One type of meat that is mostly talked about by people is halal meat, and why it is so special. This meat is only known by a few people who are mostly muslims and sometimes eaten by non muslims.

Well, after testing a few different ways to cook corned beef at home, it turns out that low and slow is the way to go. When you make it right, corned beef has a lot of flavor and has an amazing melt in your mouth texture that you can’t recreate with other methods.Halal meat should be fed good food/veggies, clean water, fresh air and wide space with adequate oxygen to roam, they must be well taken care of throughout their lifetime till day of consumption. I also like to go the extra mile and make a mustard glaze. It adds more flavor and a bit of color and crust to the meat. It is totally optional, but if boiled meat turns you off, this can definitely make a difference! Yes, Delimondo corned beef is halal certified. This means that it has undergone a rigorous process to ensure that it meets the standards set by Islamic dietary laws. The certification is provided by the Islamic Da’wah Council of the Philippines (IDCP), which is a recognized authority on halal certification. Because of the short curing time in this recipe, it is optional, however your meat will be bland brown if not used. The first time it was presented to me, I confess it wasn’t a great experience. Boiled meat and veggies can be quite bland and I’m definitely more of a roasted or braised girl.
