Description

These guys make for a very flexible alternative to a standard Terminator Squad. While combi-bolters and an autocannon can make for a very reliable fire-support unit, the real advantage these guys have over your standard Terminators is that they can perform sweeping advances. Some have been reported to be used by the Dark Angels, Ultramarines and Blood Angels Chapters, but they may or may not have been variants of the standard Indomitus Pattern. Very few suits of this early Terminator Armour were ever manufactured by the Mechanicum before the Horus Heresy began, and the secrets of the technology's design have now almost been lost. As a result, every suit of Terminator Armour is treated as an irreplaceable, precious relic by the Space Marine Chapters that own them. Heavy Flamer (as replacement for Storm Bolter, only one Terminator in five in a squad may take this heavy weapon) Squads of Terminators are most often employed during spacecraft boarding actions, and although the Terminators' armaments can be modified for longer-range combats, it is brutal assault for which Terminator Armour was made.

It requires rigorous training to be able to fight in Terminator Armour and, once trained in its use, a Space Marine will be expected to perform above and beyond his brethren, acting as an example to the rest of the Chapter. The first suits of Space Marine power armour were developed from this armour during the late 30th Millennium, and were said to have been worn by the first Space Marines of the Legiones Astartes as they launched the Great Crusade to reunite the worlds of the Sol System under the Emperor's control. Legends tell that once the Terran Solar System was secure, and the process of rebuilding firmly in hand, galactic conquest began in earnest. The suit's oversized pauldrons are not without purpose, housing additional shield generators, though the added weight and power requirements of such reinforced protection comes at a cost in speed and manoeuvrability. The helmet resembled that used by the Mark III Iron Pattern suit of power armour. Ah, the 7th, Imperial Fists. yeah, they tended to be one of the 'Indomitus' plate users. If memory serves, their Huscarl unit was also made up of Indomitus plate, but we haven't seen that brought out as a model. More over, I'm pretty sure they can have both assault cannons and shields, making them look relatively 'modern' in comparison to some other legions. (Or at least, more at home in the 41st millennium comparatively)

Teleport Strike: This unit may be deployed in a Teleportarium and teleport onto the battlefield at the end of any of your movement phases. Must be set up 9 inches from enemy models. Chapter Approved 2001: Second Book of the Astronomican, "Crux Terminatus" & "Cult Terminators", pp. 55, 58-59 Newly-formed Space Marine Chapters often have difficulty obtaining large numbers of suits of this armour, especially because older, more prestigious Chapters have greater priority. Movement is made possible through the complex synthetic fiber-bundle muscles of the armour, which allow a properly-trained Astartes warrior to fight with deadly strength and skill in cramped, close-quarter conditions, where this armour excels at providing protection and resiliency. Iron Tenth, the Iron Hands. Big time tecchy group, Gorgons being the only specialist terminators based on the Indomitus plate, I'd say you could probably add them as another group where all of the above patterns would fit in comfortably.A Chapter's elite 1st Company is known as the Veteran Company and contains its bravest and most heroic battle-brothers. Many of these Veteran Marines will have risen to the rank of Veteran Sergeant before being inducted, though less experienced Space Marines are often accepted into its ranks for performing acts of exceptional courage.

Pre-Heresy Luna Wolves Legion Terminators wearing Cataphractii Pattern Terminator Armour in battle. The follow up to Urdesh: The Serpent and the Saint focuses on the war-torn city of Ghereppan. Even though Saint Sabbat has brought about a miracle, there is still a war to be won – can the Iron Snakes Space Marines claim victory, or will they fall into a deadly trap? The Cataphractii Pattern of Terminator Armour was originally a prototype for the later patterns of Terminator Armour that was used by the Space Marine Legions and the warriors of the Legio Custodes throughout the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy eras.

Terminator armor users

I've already got 10 indomitus for the iron fourth, a squad of 5 justaerin for the SoH, and 5 cataphractii for the imperial fists. The elite 1st Company of the Ultramarines utilising Terminator Armour during the Battle of Macragge The standard suit of Mark II Crusader Power Armour provided excellent protection against small arms fire but not against heavier weapons, while the massive cybernetic Astartes combat walkers known as Dreadnoughts were unable to operate in certain environments, such as dense urban landscapes and heavily forested terrain, due to their sheer size and bulk. These are the elite warriors of Lothlórien, striking down their foes with elaborate pikes while maintaining their distance. If you need to defend the Golden Wood, the Guards of the Galadhrim Court make a fine last defence against the forces of Evil. Rúmil and Orophin There's also nothing wrong with mixing and matching different sets of terminator armour inside the legions themselves so long as you think it makes sense and works with the aesthetic. It's kinda common to look at the legion-specific terminators and then extrapolate a bit from there (though common, and even 'rules wise' some work far better, it's not always the case that the patterns make sense. Ex: the Ebony Keshig of the White Scars have the more advanced Tartaros plate, but the legion tended to be under-equipped with the newest latest-and-greatest from Mars due to their far-flung operations, and were noted for not using Termiantor plate for much in general.) So, while it's true, some legions definitely had a preference or supply of certain types of armour, it's not exactly a rule so much as a guideline of course. But, lets get on to a bit more, eh?

Every Space Marine Chapter maintains a number of suits of revered Tactical Dreadnought Armour. Terminator suits are the pinnacle of armoured protection available to a Space Marine. Each is all but impervious to small arms fire and can even withstand the merciless onslaught of anti-tank weaponry or the titanic pressures of teleportation through the Warp. Its creation was conceived at the same time as those suits. Little else is known about the Saturnine Pattern at this time save that few examples of this armour pattern are still known to exist. Like power armour, these suits were equipped with fibre-bundle synthetic muscles and imposed few movement restrictions upon the wearer despite their immense weight. But they were also too bulky, and their massive weight made running difficult despite built-in auto-balancers. A rare pattern of Terminator Armour about which almost nothing is currently known. It is said that the Minotaurs Chapter of Astartes possesses suits of this design. One of the signature tanks of the Legiones Astartes, the Sicaran Battle Tank is swift and deadly – and will be available in plastic for the first time. Along with its eye-catching autocannon array, it comes with four different sets of sponson weapons and a choice of nine pintle-mounted guns, giving you the right tool for any job.
