Description

Superbly written. Well thought out plot and in-depth knowledge of the location made this a must read book. Can't wait for the next one." The Infirmary is an absolute belter of a read. I had so many expectations with this novel and the author went above and beyond. I really can’t recommend this series highly enough. One of the best prequels, in fact, this is the best prequel I have ever read. Brilliant! Holy Island murder mystery wins book prize". www.northumberlandgazette.co.uk . Retrieved 3 June 2019. Apologies – my previous comment about the infirmary was in response to a message from Sue Pull from 1yr ago. Reply Murder and mystery are peppered with dark humour in this fast-paced crime thriller, set amidst the iconic North-Eastern landscape.

Great author. Have read all her books very compelling. Bought this copy for a friend to get her started on her book journey. Then, when the murder investigation proceeds slowly, there is a second murder on Holy Island. Then a third… All seemingly to be ‘ritual’ murders.

Detective Chief Inspector Ryan

book 11 – The infirmary is a prequel which on the book list says “Chronologically, The Infirmary is a prequel to the series and should be read first”. Despite the fact that Ryan is leery at first, he and Anna find themselves both feeling a strong attraction for each other. If, like me, you are a DCI Ryan fan then you will already know what this story is about. If you haven't yet met DCI Ryan and his crew then you are in for a treat as this starts the series off in the most chilling of ways. LJ Ross is an internationally bestselling author, whose books have sold over 7 million copies worldwide.

I have just finished Ryan’s Christmas and cant wait to buy my next book . My daughter has already told me sheLouise was born in Northumberland, England. She studied undergraduate and postgraduate Law at King’s College, University of London and then abroad in Paris and Florence. She spent much of her working life in London, where she was a lawyer for a number of years until taking the decision to change career and pursue her dream to write. Now, she writes full time and lives with her husband and son in Northumberland and Edinburgh. She enjoys reading all manner of books, painting, travelling and spending time with family and friends. You do need to “ go with the flow “ of the story ie suspend your critical faculties in particular with certain Police actions ( can’t say anymore without spoiling the plot ) . All across the USA, people are showing up dead. The deaths don't appear to be connected in any way until one particular death occurs and gets the Secretary of Defense's attention. He arranges for a task force to investigate.

While she will always be a northerner at heart, she currently lives with her husband and their son in Bath on the outskirts of London where she spends her days writing her detective mysteries. Ross loved books from a very early age when she would find old books from her mother’s chest that she would staple and illustrate during her middle school years. Even as she has a varied taste in the types of novels that she reads, and will not mind reading the odd women’s fiction or a romance. DCI Ryan’s North East Ever thought of retracing the footsteps of DCI Ryan and DS Phillips in the North East of England? The first novel in her Alexander Gregory Thrillers series, Impostor, was shortlisted in the British Book Awards 2020: Crime & Thriller Book of the Year. The audiobook of Impostor, narrated by Hugh Dancy, was also selected as a finalist in the New York Festivals Radio Awards, Best Fiction Audiobook of the Year Category. Frank Phillips is sharp, sturdy and, above all else, a loyal friend. As a long-time connoisseur of stottie cakes, he knows where to procure one as readily as he knows where to find an elusive informant. His gruff, no-nonsense exterior and bawdy sense of humour belies a soft-hearted interior, which he reserves for those he loves. Fictionophile’s OCTOBER 2023 #BookHaul #Bookbloggers #ForthcomingTitles #TBR #AnticipatedReads October 31, 2023I am new to the series and DCI Ryan and his team, but I read a review by Jen (read it here) and I knew my next credit from audible was going on this book! I am now a huge fan of DCI Ryan, and I am glad I had this book before I delved into the series. I learned of the man, some of his history and his fierce determination to get to the truth. He works so hard to solve the killings before another victim turns up, but will he be too late? Working with people lying to him, minimal clues, I came to the same discovery he did, especially when it came to the sad demise of one of the victims.

Ross, L. J. (2021). "The Cove: A Summer Suspense Mystery (The Summer Suspense Mysteries)". Dark Skies Publishing. ISBN 978-1912310913. Her eleventh novel, The Infirmary, is a prequel story to the DCI Ryan series and is available as a major Audible Originals audio-drama starring Tom Bateman, Kevin Whately, Bertie Carvel, Hermione Norris and Alun Armstrong. Midgley, Dominic. "50 Shades of self-publishers: Fame and fortune through publishing yourself online". Express.co.uk . Retrieved 2 February 2016. It is so hard to review this audiobook without giving things away. With all the thrills and spills of your favourite DCI Ryan novels, brought to life by a stellar cast, this book will hook you from the action filled opening, through the story's dark and chilling heart, to its sad but inevitable conclusion. The pacing is perfect, the tension, at times, taking you to the very edge of your seat and the sense of menace ... Off the charts. I already knew how this book would end but still, the way in which the drama built up, the way I got to reconnect with characters I already loved in brand new ways, I couldn't help but wish that the ending could be different. That Frank or Ryan could make the connections just that little bit sooner, act that little bit differently. But then, if they had, the rest of the journey wouldn't be the same now would it? Can not put this book down. I have already sent for the next 3 in the series. Absolutely brilliant storytelling by this author

About Fictionophile

After convincing D.C.S. Gregson, his superior at the Northumbria Police, that he is fit to be the senior investigating officer on the case, Ryan devotes 100% of his time and expertise to the murder case. I am not sure about this book! I found it clichéd and written by someone who wanted to squeeze in facts about Newcastle. I have really enjoyed listening to these books which Jonathan Keeble brings to life I do hope there will be more Reply
