About this deal

Your Lower KS2 class will need to add in capital letters, full stops, commas, apostrophes, question marks and exclamation marks to complete the sentences/passages. Here is the first idea in a new series of videos based around the fantastic book: Arthur and The Golden Rope by Joe Todd Stanton. These ideas demonstrate how creative technology can support and enhance learning and reading. In this idea, we look at how Alan Peat's Exciting Sentences can help more effective research to learn facts about Iceland.

Plus in science take the chance to go on a sound walk around the house or outdoors. You are also going to learn about the only British king with 'the Great' after his name. In this idea, pupils can apply their understanding of prepositional phrases by exploring a picture from the book. This selection of books shows what Viking life was like, with all the action and humour you might expect. It includes fiction and non-fiction and is suitable for primary-aged children. Your can choose from six resources for your Lower KS2 class. Have a look through to see how we have differentiated this resource.

The Vikings believed in many different Gods and Goddesses. Each god had its own personality. The main gods were Odin, Thor and Frey. Here is the next idea in the series based around the fantastic book: Arthur and The Golden Rope by Joe Todd Stanton. Imagine a vault so cavernous that it could contain all the world's greatest treasures and relics, from mummified remains of ancient monarchs to glistening swords brandished by legendary warriors. Who could be in charge of such a vault and how did he come into possession of such a unique collection? Who is...Professor Brownstone? Children will love the sense of adventure created through the brilliantly vivid illustrations alongside learning facts about this particular period in history. Links to Curriculum areas, other Literary Leaves and Planning Sequences: Hear the story of the very first items in this collection as we journey to the land of the Vikings. A place filled with magical objects, powerful gods and mythical beasts to be conquered! After reading the first half of Arthur and the Golden Rope book, your class can complete this comprehension and answer a range of questions based on their understanding, ability to retrieve information and apply their literacy knowledge.

Today I want you to go on a sound walk. What noises can you hear around the house? Where is it the most noisy? Where is the quietest spot? Do you recognise all the noises you hear? If you are able to go outside, what noises can you hear in the garden? In this activity your KS2 class must read through the passage from the book Arthur and the Golden Rope and identify the verbs in the text and write the present/past tense of the words. Kids love the illustrations and story. I've since realized that this is the second book in a series, but the first is no where to be found. I hope we can eventually locate a copy of the first book. Príbeh o Artúrovi, ktorý napriek svojmu veku dokázal preľstiť a poraziť veľkého, nebezpečného Fenrira, pri lapení ktorého zlyhali samotní bohovia, by nemal chýbať v žiadnej knižnici.I loved the illustrations, the detail and the way they convey feeling was totally absorbing. Yet again, this wasn't really the kind of thing I would normally read but, once again, I am so glad I did! Disclaimer: Many thanks to NoBrow for the opportunity to read and review. Please assure that my opinions are honest. From the cover... Imagine a vault so cavernous that it could contain all the world's greatest treasures and relics, from mummified remains of ancient monarchs to glistening swords brandished by legendary warriors. How could someone come into possession of such a collection. Who is Professor Brownstone? The First Drawings by Mordicai Gerstein (Y3 planning sequence in the Literary Curriculum) would be an ideal text to teach this alongside.

Frey was the god of fertility and birth. When Vikings married, they would ask Frey to bless them with many children. Frey’s sister Freyja was the goddess of fertility and love. In this activity, your class will read the sentences/passages and identify the missing punctuation. Arthur, a small boy fascinated by the magical tales of the town's wise woman, is out exploring one day when he's startled by a terrible howl. Too late, he watches as a huge wolf, Fenrir, puts out the village's great fire, meaning that the village faces being frozen solid in a week - unless a Viking god relights the fire. A fantastic version of a Norse myth that falls between a picture book for older readers and a graphic novel, this is a promising start to an attractive adventure series that should appeal to boys and girls. In this reading resource, we have taken some of the lovely vocabulary used by Joe Todd-Stanton and your class must look at the words and identify their meanings or try to explain in their own words what they think the word means. Thor was very strong. There are many stories of his battles against giants and monsters, whom he defeated with his mighty hammer. In this idea, pupils use drama to explore every element of the text including language, grammar and punctuation. This is an 12-session Literary Leaf for Arthur and the Golden Rope by Joe Todd Stanton which covers all aspects of the Lower Key Stage 2 content domains. Throughout the sequence children will be provided with opportunities to develop skills of retrieval, inference, summarising and sequencing through taking part in class discussions, completing practical activities and answering questions. They will also explore the meanings of new vocabulary in context and be able to draw links with other areas of the curriculum, for example the study of the Vikings in History. Synopsis of Text:
