Comic Natalie (in Japanese). Natasha, Inc. September 14, 2022. Archived from the original on March 15, 2023 . Retrieved March 23, 2023. What's It About? After an awful carriage accident, Stella awakens in a gothic mansion in the presence of four impossibly gorgeous vampires! Written and illustrated by Kachiru Ishizue, Rosen Blood was serialized in Akita Shoten's shōjo manga magazine Monthly Princess from September 6, 2017, [3] to July 6, 2022. [4] Akita Shoten collected its chapters in five tankōbon volumes, released from July 13, 2018, [5] to September 14, 2022. [6] Rosen Blood may not be my typical read and has content that I'm not personally fond of reading, but the story itself was good and had fantastic artwork. There are good mystery undertones with a main character who may start out naïve, but realize things are amiss and has the ability take things into her own hands (even if I AM concerned about her wellbeing and "the boundaries" being crossed).

I do however very much ship Stella and Levi, who seems to be one of the two most respectful of Stella's "boundaries." Plus, *coughs* there is just something about that broody vampire who gets you. LOL! While there isn't a huge foundation I feel to their "relationship," I'm definitely hoping there will be at some point. Levi seems to care for her on a deeper level and hope that continues (as well as I what feel is protectiveness, which I'm also for).

It was an interesting one to say the least. I did not think it bad, but more of some of the content was not for me. I wasn't fond of feeling like the main girl, Stella, is a potential "sex toy" for the men around her. While there is definitely no sex, the suggestive themes were strong and I wanted Stella to stand up for her personal boundaries. (There were no personal boundaries said, but I think I inadvertently put them upon her.) This is going to be an odd way to start a review, but I wanted to read Rosen Blood so I could form an opinion based on what someone had said concerning the beginning. I don't typically read about vampires nor am I super familiar with the tropes in this genre. This was my very first vampire manga read!

Now is that kind of time-killing all bad when the primary appeal is in watching Stella grow more intimately acquainted with these vampire weekenders? Of course not, and Rosen Blood knows that even as it's setting up story-early scenes of Stella getting to know the boys. Right now each represents an effective appeal to your expected dating-sim types, and all of them notably carry the whiff of that appreciable danger boyfriend energy we expect going into the inherent fantasy of Teen Paranormal Romance. It did cross lines for me personally a couple times – don't get me wrong, I can totally get the controlled fantasization of seeing Gilbert pounce Stella upon their first meeting, but did he really have to throw in extra dialogue insinuating she was 'asking for it' there? But overall I can appreciate the way the artwork in this volume communicates the key appeals of this series: The growing dreamlike, disorienting intensity of Stella learning more about the situation of the place she's in, and the lovely designs of those stupid sexy vampire boys. As well, after all that aforementioned time-killing in this initial volume, the concept moving forward proposed by Stella at the end has even more powerful potential for a steamy supernatural series like this. So Rosen Blood is definitely worth a look if you're in the strike zone it's pitching to – just know you might need to have a little patience with it to start. After a horrific carriage accident, Stella Violetta awakens in a Gothic mansion to find that her saviors are gorgeous young men that really want to drink her blood. Instead of tossing the helpless Stella out, the manor’s residents let her stay as a maid, but Stella soon realizes there is more to the arrangement than she was originally told.Levi is the leader of the vampires, in control of his bloodlust and the house. Friedrich is a flirty florist existing to push a sexual boundary. Yoel is androgynous, childlike, and coy. And finally, Gilbert is the dangerous one, driven by his thirst but an artist all the same. These young vampires are all unique and beyond that, the ominous life-like sculptures cast a dangerous shadow on Stella’s life in the home.
