Description

The impulse response is able to show visually only the same or different polarity of the drivers and possible high-frequency resonance. Los que podrían ser comprables en sonido, serían unos Sennheiser HD 599, pero estos son abiertos, lo que te obliga a usarlos en casa y en ambientes tranquilos. The envelope of the impulse response is the sum of the half-wave moduli of the impulse response, constructed on a logarithmic scale.

The impulse response is displayed as is, without compensation of the frequency response for the microphone or smoothing. It is RAW data. The reduction in the frequency response of the microphone starts at 20 kHz . Ears also tend to get hot after listening to it for prolonged periods of time. For the MSRP they ask on it, I really expected a lot more have to be honest. At the end of the day, the resolution is very reasonable and it's something that some listeners might not even have a problem with. But I have to bring this up because of what these headphones could have been for me. Its stellar tuning and detail retrieval can fit the bill for many and having the extra bit of resolution at this price point would have made these an even stronger contender in the mid-fi arena. If you intend on using these for audio recording, whether music based, film/video production.. these headphones will provide a genuinely pure representation of the entire range of frequencies on offer... IF you have the ear for that kind of thing as well. If you understand what that all means, pre-EQíng and pre-mastering, you will appreciate exactly what these headphones have to offer. According to this graph, you can estimate at what volume the headphones will be perceived more flat.

The frame is light but the build quality remains sturdy without feeling cheap. It should be noted that the pressure-relieving earpads, while comfortable, may trap heat when wearing the headphones for about an hour or so. The earpads tend to flatten over a listening session; my ears gradually begin to touch the grills in front of the drivers when wearing these for more than 2 hours. I have to take these off for about 20min to let the earpads return to its original shape. The bass response is exceptional. That's not necessarily a good thing for ear health, but if bass is important to you, the MDR1AM2s bring it. Not sure what to do, I called an expert on headphones, and he mentioned these Sony's. In fact he said these are what he used personally. I just received them, and my search is over! They sound better than all the others I tried, even with the amplifier on the others. No amp needed for Sony's, lightweight to the point I don't notice they are even on my head. Low enough impedance I'm only slightly over half maximum volume on the IPAD. The sensitivity of the headphones F.A.Q. is determined by the amplitude-frequency response curve F.A.Q. with the specified sound pressure dB SPL of 1 V RMS. For 0 dB, 20 μPa is assumed.

Overall, the Audio Technica offers a more balanced sound profile, with ample extension in the lows and highs. The Sony, in contrast, skews a bit more fun-sounding, though its powerful bass can lead to an impression of a darker sound. Lows Now for the midrange (Vocals) I like it a lot especially when I watch videos or want to monitor my voice. For songs the vocals are clear and you will know they are there. These headphones are very fun to listen to.

Sony’s high-end headphones impress with sound, disappoint with construction

Something I really don't like ! It's pretty much the worst leather I have seen on decent headphones in this regard. While I don't see myself using over-ear headphones for anything else than listenting to music, other people like to be able to use such a headphone for calls as well. During the measurements, a special amplifier was used with zero total output impedance over the entire frequency range, which required no compensation for the amplitude response . The microphone is calibrated to 45 kHz with an appropriate frequency response correction. RAA measurements are made in 192 kHz / 24 bit mode. I'd say it's a very good looking response for those looking for a v-shaped signature. Nice bass extension while the treble not looking too crazy. Midrange is pretty much spot-on. Dip at 4kHz is shown with a lot of my measurements on other headphones - I think it's just the compensation file that makes it show this.

While it is all too common to see some manufacturers boost the treble for the psychoacoustic illusion of more details, the MDR-1AM2 is a specialist in bringing forth such detail of recordings while maintaining a pleasing tonality. However, the MDR-1AM2 does not keep up in the resolution department. As detailed as it sounds, these perceived details in different components of the mix are not as well-articulated and well-separated as I'd like them to be. How’s that for specifications?! We’ve got an expansive frequency range of 3-100,000 hertz. While I honestly doubt anyone has the ears to take full benefit of those higher frequencies, the numbers still manage to impress me. Meanwhile, that low impedance of just 16 ohms will pair well with any low output device, from a phone or laptop to a portable high-res music player. Finally, sound pressure is a fairly standard 98 decibels – more than capable of adequate volume in normal listening situations. First, this headphone is crazy sensitive. I have had many portable headphones and none are this sensitive. It almost behaves like an IEM in this regard --- on an iPhone I actually volume match it with my DD IEM and find the volume to be sufficient. On most desktop amps it will hiss. Again something that's much more common with IEMs than full-sized headphones.

More present mids and a slightly forward sound characterize the MSR7B. But the mids here also showcase more contrast, giving the impression of grip. As a result, the mids on the MSR7B tend to jump out, with better isolation from the lows and highs.

These are two completely different builds from the ground up. The MV1 doesn’t look like they just put some vents on the 1AM2. It has its distinct style, and it works for what it is. Both headphones are meant to be worn for long studio sessions, and their comfort level reflects that. I really can’t see any negative here, as both headphones have a snug and don’t cause any obstruction or fatigue. Design The 1AM2 and MV1 couldn’t be more different in the high frequencies. If you like your treble smooth, and you don’t like too much attention being called to it, then the 1AM2 will be more for you. With the MV1, a lot more focus is granted to the highs, and it is considerably more lifted than the 1AM2. There’s more frequency content to articulate, and the MV1 responds well, but not without some sharp edges. When compared to other mixing headphones from the likes of Beyerdynamic, these highs will be easier to digest. However, if you’re treble sensitive, then the 1AM2 will be both more comforting in its highs, as well as accurate. Summary Sound is of very good quality and pretty neutral apart from the bass region which has a big boost (+6dB from reference).Comfort and weight are perhaps the biggest selling points of this headphone. Sure, those specs are impressive, but they only get more impressive when you actually hold this headphone in your hands and realize just how incredibly light it is. You could wear this baby all day and never feel a thing. Possibly due to the fact that the lower treble is slightly recessed, the presence of instruments and vocals are set a distance away from the listener. Combined with its airy treble, this helps give the perception of a spacious sound although the soundstage is neither particularly wide nor deep. This is why I enjoy using the MDR-1AM2 for live performances as well. The headphones sound amazing especially after burn-in. They're great for listening to music and surround content (plugged into your AV receiver) late nights without affecting your neighbors. Deep lows, clear mids, clean highs. They're the best sounding headphones I've owned. The mids are treble are just the right amount with good clarity. Note these headphones aren't bright at all, only problematic area being the bass. And, while a level of midrange detail still presents itself on the Sony MDR-1AM2, those details seem overwhelmed by the powerful low end. For some genres, this won’t be as much of a problem – but it still prevents the Sony from sounding great with anything (unlike the MSR7B). Highs
