Description

The Galaxy S20+ and S20 Ultra are the most advanced 5G phones in the US at the moment. They're the only phones able to handle the entire layer cake of 5G frequencies—low, middle, and high—including reusing 4G frequencies through dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS). Under the hood is a powerful chipset, either a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 or Exynos 990 (where you live will determine which you’ll get) as well as either 8GB or 12GB of RAM, depending on whether you buy the 4G or 5G phone. And some people will only be able to buy the 5G phone – you can read on below to find out which versions are available in your region. A 1440p " Dynamic AMOLED 2X" is featured with HDR10+ support and "dynamic tone mapping" technology with the exception of the S20 FE which utilizes a more traditional 1080p " Super AMOLED" display with HDR10+ support and "dynamic tone mapping" technology. The S20, S20 FE, and S20+ have a 6.2-inch, 6.5-inch, and 6.7-inch display, respectively, while the S20 Ultra has a 6.9-inch display. Except for the S20 FE, displays have curved sides that slope over the horizontal edges of the device. All devices utilizes a wider 20:9 aspect ratio in addition to a 120Hz refresh rate double that of the S10. [a] The S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra utilizes an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint sensor while the S20 FE utilizes a more traditional optical in-screen fingerprint sensor. However, Samsung has increased the size of individual pixels here, from 1.4 microns to 1.8 microns. Combined with the larger sensor, you should be able to capture more detail and more light with the Galaxy S20’s main snapper, and we found that to be the case when shooting in darker scenarios.

The cameras on the Galaxy S20 series improved considerably over its predecessors, although unlike the S9 and S10, the aperture on the main lens is fixed. While the megapixels of the main and ultra wide sensors remained unchanged on the S20 and S20+, the telephoto sensor received some improvements. The 64-megapixel telephoto camera, branded as “Space Zoom”, supports 3X hybrid optical zoom [b] (branded as "Hybrid Optic Zoom") and 30X digital zoom at 64 megapixels on the new telephoto sensor instead of 12 megapixels at two times on the S10 and 30 times digitally (branded as "Super-Resolution Zoom").We think it’s best if you take the plethora of number-heavy camera specs with a pinch of salt, and instead consider what they mean in terms of the photos you can capture. Otherwise the S20 cameras could look like a downgrade compared to previous Samsung devices, and that’s far from the case.

In identical circumstances, the S20+ would sometimes choose a shorter night mode exposure than the Ultra—four seconds instead of five—making it more convenient to take pictures. A new camera mode was introduced called Single Take, which allows users to capture photos or videos at the same time with different sensors automatically. [27] The S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra can also record 8K videos at 24fps with a bit rate of 80 Mbps, [40] which will consume about 600MB of storage per minute. [41] On the S20 and S20+, this is enabled by the 64 MP telephoto sensor, whereas the S20 Ultra's 108 MP wide sensor natively supports 8K video. If you do decide to shoot in 8K, you can hit the camera button when you're recording to take a 33MP still image. This should be useful if you want a high-quality snap while you're already filming video. While 8K recording is limited to 24fps, it has one big benefit: you’re able to crop and edit videos without sacrificing quality if you’re exporting to 4K or 1080p.

The phone should stay in its new 120Hz, 1080p screen mode, though. The 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling noticeably smoother and improves the phone experience all around. If you're concerned about the 1080p resolution, I didn't find it to be a problem, but remember that the pixels get tighter as the screen size gets smaller, so this phone is a better bet to use that resolution than the Ultra is. Like last year’s S10 handsets, the S20 range features Samsung’s reverse wireless charging feature, which enables you to use your S20 to charge other gadgets that support Qi charging. As on the S10 range, the fingerprint scanner is embedded in the display. We found this to be faster and more reliable than the option on the Galaxy S10, but it isn’t perfect with us regularly having to retry our digits on the reader to be able to access the phone.Upday-Meldungen deaktivieren auf Samsung-Geräten". heise online (in German). I can't get to Manhattan right now because of coronavirus-related travel restrictions. Galaxy S20 Ultra can only record at 720p480fps and it upscales with AI to 720p960fps, Galaxy S20 and S20+ can record at 720p960fps.
