Secondly, younger children may not have the necessary balance and coordination to stay upright on a bike seat. You can attach the standard mount directly to the steer tube by removing handlebars and spacers. You will of course only be able to do this if you have enough spacers to remove to then replace with the standard mount.This type of seat is incredibly popular in Holland, where you see lots of primary school-aged children being carried this way.

The other option would be to just get the Clubhouse and use it with no kid seats. This could work fine if your 3 yo is pretty calm and you aren’t doing long rides. A lot of kids even do well sleeping in a Clubhouse. Mine aren’t big fans of it though. They get upset if they don’t feel supported while sleepy. Thule Yepp Mini Offers Great Room for Growth The seat is mounted by placing on top of the carrier and tightening the screws. Moreover, the mounting tools are conveniently located at an easy to access place in the seat. So, you can always (dis)assemble on the spot! Overall, the Yepp Maxi and Yepp Nexxt Maxi are both great rear-mounted child bike seats. The main difference between the two seats is that the Yepp Nexxt Maxi is a bit larger and has a built-in sunshade, while the Yepp Maxi is a bit smaller and does not have a sunshade. Some complain that the shoulder straps are hard to adjust on older kids. I found it only to be a slight inconvenience to adjust. I did, however, find that the padding on the shoulder straps doesn’t line up as perfectly with older kid’s shoulders. I found myself spending more time adjusting the shoulder pads than adjusting the actual shoulder strap length.
