Jesus is seated above all demonic powers and fully destroyed the work of Satan, as the Bible says: "The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil" (1 John 3:8). Then Jesus lays out a fundamental truth: There are no sidelines in this war. The kingdom of God has come, and we’re either with Jesus or against Him. There are a million ways to oppose Jesus’ work in the world, but those who are with Him are focused on the same goal: building His kingdom by both knowing and following Him and by helping others to know him too. This power he exercised in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms far above every rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. And God put all things under Christ’s feet, and he gave him to the church as head over all things… and he raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus

The very name causes many of us an instant jolt of panic. Personified evil is an incomprehensible thing, and what we cannot understand, we fear. We know from psychiatric settings that people can be extremely strong sometimes, so we would not diagnose possession from strength alone. The Bible affirms the existence of demons numerous times in both the Old and New Testaments (e.g., 1 Samuel 16:13-15, 1 Kings 22:19-23, Luke 8:30-33, Acts 16:16-18, etc.). In addition, the Bible speaks about the influence that demons can have in the lives of human beings.

I needed this. I feel like I’m barely holding on right now. My mind feels like it’s running wild with so many messed up thoughts all the time. And right now, especially. Love was randomly misconstrued for hurting others. All I could think of was: “Stop trying to destroy my heart! I know what love is and God has it! I won’t let you twist or change the word “love” into something horrible.” But I’m not giving up! I’ve worked hard these past few months to reaffirm my faith in God, to seek him and I refuse to let the lies that Satan tries to feed me control me. Yet these men, as a result of their dreams, defile the flesh, reject authority, and insult the glorious ones. But even when Michael the archangel was arguing with the devil and debating with him concerning Moses’ body, he did not dare to bring a slanderous judgment, but said, “May the Lord rebuke you!” Some might ask, “Why should believers rebuke the devil, instead of simply praying to God to get rid of them?” Wayne Grudem gives an apt answer to this: Can a Christian be oppressed by a demon or even Satan? The Apostle Paul relates that he had a thorn in the flesh to keep him humble (2nd Cor 12:7a) and the source of this thorn was actually “ a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure” (2nd Cor 12:7b). God allowed Satan to buffet Paul by some unnamed affliction or persecutors so obviously Paul was oppressed but not just by any one. It wasn’t just a demon by Satan himself, the ruler of the kingdom of darkness. Satan certainly saw Paul as a threat to his kingdom and probably the greatest threat there was at the time because Paul planted churches about everywhere he went. He was entering enemy territory. Demons and Satan are opposed to anything and everything that has to do with Jesus Christ, the blood of the Lamb, the cross, repentance, confession, forgiveness, and eternal life through the Savior. They absolutely detest it and will do anything they can do to stop it but they can do no more than that God allows them to do. Demons are Satan can do nothing beyond what God’s will is which explains why Jesus told Peter that Satan had asked to sift Peter like wheat (Luke 22:31). We can conclude that Satan had to have God’s permission first. When Satan wanted to test Job, “ the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord” (Job 1:12). Now we have at least two people that were allowed to be buffeted by Satan but by no means destroy their salvation. Is Oppression or Possession?

I’ve taken to saying out loud, over and over “THERE IS POWER IN THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST”– just keep on saying it until you feel like JESUS has lifted your spirit. Whoever is not with Me is against Me, and whoever does not gather with Me scatters.” (Matthew 12:25–30, NIV) If the exorcist does determine that you are in need of an exorcism, the process can sometimes take several sessions—exorcism is not an “I win” button against the demon. It is a battle.

There are multiple times in the Bible when Jesus calls the devil “the prince of this world” (John 12:31; 14:30; 16:11, NIV). Before Jesus’ ministry began, He traveled into the wilderness alone. There, Satan came and tempted Him by showing Him all the kingdoms of the world and saying, “I will give You all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. If You worship me, it will all be Yours” (Luke 4:6, NIV). Feet fitted with readiness from the gospel of peace. This readiness comes from the peace of knowing that you have been made right with God. This peace can make you ready not only to stand firm in the Lord but also to share that peace with those around you. You have been given readiness to persevere in pursuing Christ. And even though you are in a battle, you are a minister of a gospel of peace.

Conclusion

Does this passage directly or indirectly say that believers should never attempt to cast out demons through Christ’s authority? This passage does tell us that Michael did not have authority to rebuke the devil, which probably represents how Satan was originally equal to Michael or in authority over him in the original creation. Therefore, Michael had to appeal to God to rebuke Satan. It also shows us the pride of the false teachers who reject authority and in their pride insult demons. Neither situation directly corresponds to the believers’ authority to cast out demons, which is demonstrated throughout the New Testament (the apostles, the seventy, and Philip). Believers have a special authority because of their relationship to Christ, which angels don’t have. According to Paul in Ephesians 1:20-22 and 2:6, believers were resurrected with Christ and seated in the heavenlies above angels and demons, which represents Christ’s authority and the believers’ authority in him over the angelic and demonic realm. Ephesians 1:20-22 and 2:6 says: If you want a stronger spiritual life, get involved in the church of your choice. What you’ll find there will keep you all the safer. Pray And not being alright with and seem so anti everything but then also not in some areas 😔 being double minded but still fall to a judgmental side. And decerning issues… Don’t be timid in asking for someone’s credentials when they tell you they can assist you in deliverance. Of course, there are some prayers you can do alone, as well. The book that my friends used for my situation was Deliverance Prayers: For Use by the Laity by Fr. Chad A. Ripperger. The book has an incredibly thorough compilation of powerful prayers against diabolical activity in one’s life.

There are roughly one to four possession cases going in a major city at any time. Most exorcists are doing an exorcism monthly, weekly, or more often. It’s usually best to have sessions weekly for each person. The temptation this warfare invites you to partake in is to believe what you see, and believe what you feel. (which, by the way are lies from the enemy. he whispers them in your ear, and because you believed it, you repeat what he says in your own head. THis is how satan takes us captive) The Lord tells us in a battle like this we are to take every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ 2Cor 2 :5 Your word says we r saved through Grace through Faith as a gift from u. There is nothing we can do to earn Salvation. When a person is under strong demonic oppression, such as when the demon has rendered the person helpless and taken over his voice-box, we should quote Scriptures that represent Satan’s defeat, as we command the demon to leave, and pray over the person. Consider the following: Fr. Fortea says that “When tempted, prayer is our greatest weapon, a weapon as powerful as the greatest army or wealth. The demons know the power of prayer and fear it.”Finally, if none of these forms of protection avail you, you may have an especially powerful demon on your hands. For this, you’ll need an expert—someone who has spent a lifetime familiarizing themselves with the world of the demonic, as well as the Word of God. It’s important to establish a baseline for the general laity to understand the difference between ordinary and extraordinary activity of the devil, and then to further define examples of extraordinary activity. All of us are tempted to sin, which is the easiest way to explain the ordinary activity of Satan. He tends to influence our thoughts with subtle messages we may dismiss as harmless, and then these can be entertained through our emotions and, if we do not rebuke them swiftly, can lead to sin. In a concrete way, it started in graduate school for adult clinical psychology. I was doing brain-wave research on hypnosis and the brain’s ability to create false experiences. At that time, the paranormal TV show craze was just starting. I was curious if the people on these shows were just having false experiences or were mentally ill. I got called to the Pittsburgh diocese to look at a case there for them. That case is now known to the public, as they have written a book about it. This creates what Fr. Fortea calls “a good spiritual life.” He goes on, saying that “The more we’re centered on God, and the more we have a spiritual life, putting into words and deeds the words of the Gospel, the stronger we’ll be.” These spiritual entities are, according to Christian tradition, angels that were cast out of heaven after following their leader, Satan, in rebellion against God. Because of their transgressions, they now roam the earth as they await the final judgment.
