That’s open information so it can be explained at the start of the round if there’s a language barrier between a player and the game. It can take longer to set up than it does to play, which given how little time setup takes, is pretty great. But i really like that it can handle up to 8 players as im bringing it with a large travel group for my school break.

Each player is also given a role card, which tells them whether they are a Sheriff, Deputy, Outlaw or Renegade. Making the best of a bad situation, you just shoot someone else because in the end it’s fine if everyone is dead.If you have enough, you can deal two to each player and let them pick (they should choose without letting other players know which one they chose), but if not just deal one to each player and if they pitch a fit they can draw a new one. If the last arrow is taken, the Indians attack and all players lose one hit point for each arrow they hold. The game’s sole advantage over its father is that it is quick, playing to completion in 15 minutes or so.

Each turn you can roll all the dice up to three times (kind of like Yahtzee) and can pick some, all, or no dice to re-roll each time (still, kind of like Yahtzee) before sticking with a final set. The basic Yahtzee formula for die rolling has been left essentially unchanged for a few decades now. It has player elimination but the game will be over quickly and it’s fun to watch the last few rounds play out. but I definitely like the tempo of the game more than the original - especially when teaching new players. We’re still waiting for an accessible social deduction game to come along though, and this isn’t it.I introduced my kids to Bang Dice a few yrs back and it is always with us when we travel to hockey tournaments, family gathering or just road trips.

With Bang we have an interesting amount of ambiguity in that the dice give people plausible reasons for actions that seem to act against their expressed self-interest. Plus, it helps balance things out so that the Sheriff doesn't get obliterated by the Outlaws from the beginning.
