Once he starts to open himself up to Bailey and the possibility of knowing her, we get to discover the other facets of his personality. I had a feeling the book might be a bit obvious and become very cliched however, the author made a fantastic job.

There is some of the most delicious banter ever written, swoons, heartbreak, laughs, and maybe a bit of betrayal. I love the movie quotes before each chapter, and I especially appreciated them once I realized how said quotes tie into the chapters’ events. Nevertheless, these quotes and references at the very least add to the characters’ personalities if not the plot itself. You've Got Mail gets a teenaged spin in this story of Bailey, classic film buff and product of divorce, who moves across the country to live in a California surfing town with her dad. A couple of yards before we hit the ground, he speaks up in a voice so quiet, I can barely hear him.Porter, too, is a well-established character, complete with fleshed-out backstory and a collection of charismatic supporting characters unique to him. She was born in Germany, has lived all over the US, and has traveled extensively throughout Europe, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. He’s not that worried about Davy being on one of the most addictive and dangerous drugs in existence.

As might be expected, Bailey's and Porter's fiery retorts soon kindle passion, and the two start dating despite Bailey's guilt about keeping him a secret from her online pal. This is a book that I'll be reading over and over again: when I need a pick me up or to get out of a slump or just need to grin like a loon the way I am right now. Unlike other couples in contemporary young adult novels, Porter and Bailey actually communicate with each other!

As it's too often the case, important issues are completely thrown off a cliff for the sake of the romance, and I'm not here for that : in Alex, Approximately, we have Davy, Porter's ex-best friend, who's got chronic pain since a surfing injuring and who starts doing drugs. Seventeen-year-old Bailey and eighteen-year-old Porter share a deep animosity for each other as coworkers at the Cove, a kitschy museum in Coronado Cove, California.

Once again Bennett has written a romantic story that I cannot wait to pick up again, so I can re-experience all the laughs, swoons, and sexy sarcasm that overpowers this book.Sure, he does shitty things and I'm not saying that he should be let off the hook, BUT I was shocked at the amount of victim blaming going on there. There's also a broader consideration of trust and it does well at depicting male characters who experience a full range of emotion - both genders get to be strong.

There were so many great scenes of the two of them talking and expressing their feelings to each other. In fact, the whole online, chat room friends meet-up hook falls by the wayside pretty quickly as the novel becomes less about Bailey finding Alex and more about Bailey and Porter’s slow-growing romance, with Alex becoming more of an afterthought, and something to be brought out as a complication when it suits.

The choice is both simpler and more complicated than she realizes, because Porter Roth is hiding a secret of his own: Porter is Alex. J enn Bennett is an artist and RITA-nominated author of the Arcadia Bell urban fantasy series ( Kindling the Moon) and the Roaring Twenties romance series, including Bitter Spirits, which was chosen as one of Publishers Weekly Best Books of 2014 and winner of RT Book Reviews Paranormal Romance Book of the Year, and Grave Phantoms—which was awarded RT’s May Seal of Excellence for 2015. I felt like the story had so much promise and could have been very interesting, even if it was played out the same way but with different events happening, it could have been improved. star while you are saying that we should put it in trash because you don't want to give even one star.
