Description

With bright, bold artwork, a catchy refrain and eight animal noises, the Dear Zoo Noisy Book is sure to keep toddlers entertained for hours - perfect for joining in! A whole new generation of children will enjoy this classic story about finding the perfect family pet, as it is brought up–to-date with eight lifelike sounds. A seasonal favourite, this Christmas adaptation of Dear Zoo is sure to delight young readers just as much. Children can guess what animals they think will be behind the flap and explain why, which encourages verbal reasoning.

This led him to think about explorers many years ago, who would send animals to zoos in crates, and this sparked his light-bulb moment.

Best known for his classic lift-the-flap title Dear Zoo, which has sold over eight million copies worldwide, he is also the creator of the much loved preschool character Buster. At the end of each page there is a simple reason why the animal was not kept and the sentence, ‘I sent him back’.

Dear Zoo - Teaching Ideas Dear Zoo - Teaching Ideas

The hungry mouse likes eating cheese, the rabbit likes carrots and the monkey likes bananas, but what about the hungry tiger? Con gái tớ cũng biết đọc rồi (sơ sơ) nên nàng ta sau một lượt đọc là trốn luôn chỉ lật hình và (đương nhiên) bị phạt phải đọc thêm cả chữ. With slightly older children they can think about how it would feel to be a cage/box etc this can be done through role play and discussion. It is his most famous work, and thirty-five years later, it is still tremendously popular among the under fives in Great Britain, and has been translated into more than a dozen different languages.

Young children will love lifting the flaps as they turn the pages and follow Buster around the farm. It was also really enjoyed by the EAL children in the nursery, as many of them already knew the animal’s names and joined in with the sounds these animals make. After seeing firsthand how well children engage with this book, I would have to recommend it to anyone teaching the EYFS.

I know that kids books are not meant to be taken literally, but the message here kinda sucks and the only thing this book has going for it is the cool cut out, fold up, pop up animals. But as we read on and flipped the flaps he had some questions that kind of took him away from the story, like what are lions and how exactly does being fierce disqualify the lion from being a good pet? Ingeniously simple, with touches of gentle humour, Rod's books are enjoyed by children, parents and teachers alike. Of course some children may need to be told that animals are not delivered like this nowadays, nor by the postman in the ordinary mail! With bright, bold artwork, a simple, engaging text and a whole host of favourite farm animals, Noisy Farm is a perfect first farm animal story book – and the chunky board book format and sturdy card flaps make it great for small hands.Lift-the-flaps and press the 8 interactive sound buttons to see what the zoo has sent: the perfect pet - in the end!

The zoo send a series of unsuitable pets, revealed behind flaps in the form of crates and packing cases. With bright, bold artwork, catchy repetition, and a whole host of favourite animals, Dear Zoo is a must for every child's bookshelf, and the thick card pages, chunky cased golden cover and sturdy flaps make it perfect for small hands. Lift the sturdy card flaps to discover five different endangered animals in their natural habitats, and unfold the special ending to learn how conservation efforts have helped whales,to introduce the importance of looking after our world and the animals that live in it. The children at my nursery really loved the interactive ‘lift the flap’ element and would ask for this book to be read to them again and again.

months later this is still a firm favorite with my niece, who wanted it read three times before bed. After the elephant comes a giraffe ( “press the giraffe button to hear the giraffe munching”) who was “too tall”. Follow Chick around the farm and meet all her animal friends: stroke the woolly lamb, feel the cow's smooth horns and then lift the flap at the end to find out who is hiding under mother hen's wing! We don't want to give anything away, but that's the pet Ben has at home too, so that last flap was really exciting to open. Lift the flaps and join in the fun with Rod Campbell's classic, Dear Zoo, with a host of favourite zoo animals and flaps to lift on every page.
