Description

A rigorous, easy to use synthetic phonics teaching programme that engages children from the outset and enables them to learn to read quickly. Strategies will be modelled by teaching staff and opportunities provided for children to practise these skills independently to secure their knowledge. This chart explains the systematic way Floppy's Phonics builds reading progress through each phase of Letters and Sounds, matching each book to each phase. Before they get to read Biff, Chip and Kipper stories, children can now access Floppy’s Phonics Sounds and Letters.

Each sound is explored through an Oxford Reading Tree scene, first the children should say the sound and trace the letters in the panel, before looking at the key word and picture and saying the sound, there is a list of decodable words for them to read and then they can try to find all words they can that include the focus sound within the picture, some are labelled some are not! A rigorous, easy-to-use synthetic phonics teaching programme that engages children from the outset and enables them to learn to read quickly. Each card is clearly referenced with the book and card number, the letter and a mnemonic full colour picture. Floppy’s Phonics is in line with the Systematic Synthetic Phonics (SSP) teaching principles described in the ‘English programmes of study: key stages 1 and 2 – National curriculum in England’ which is statutory from September 2014. No missing or damaged pages, no tears, possible very minimal creasing, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. The Language Master Card set, Sounds and Letters supports the learning of the letter sounds covered in the Floppy’s Phonics Sounds and Letters programme, Books 1-18, 21-24. Written by phonics expert Debbie Hepplewhite, this is a complete, stand-alone early years programme, and the best I’ve seen on the market by a country mile. Like no other, it delivers the essential resources to teach and practise the alphabetic code in a systematic and engaging way to develop confident and capable readers. Trading Address (Warehouse) Unit E, Vulcan Business Complex, Vulcan Road, Leicester, Leicestershire, LE5 3EB. The Floppy’s Phonics programme teaches the letter/s-sound correspondences of the English alphabetic code explicitly and comprehensively for reading and spelling.

Floppy’s Phonics engages the children with its familiar characters and supports both teaching and learning with CD-ROMs; classroom visual aids, the structured set of phonics books; cumulative, decodable, activity sheets and texts, plus planning and assessment materials. The Level 1 books introduce children to environmental sounds in a variety of contexts through beautifully illustrated Oxford Reading Tree picture books. In Reception to Year 2, children have discrete, daily phonics sessions where they are introduced to new phonemes, explore, practise and revise previous learning and have plenty of opportunities to apply the knowledge they have. In 2008, Roderick Hunt received an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for services to education, particularly literacy.

If your child does not meet the expected standard, then they will be provided with additional support to close any gaps in learning and will retake the assessment in Year 2.

If you have any questions or queries regarding the phonics screening check, please contact your child’s pastoral class teacher in the first instance who will endeavour to answer your query as quickly as possible. Debbie Hepplewhite: Specialising as an independent synthetic phonics teacher and trainer, Debbie is an experienced primary school teacher and ex-Headteacher. My toddler (21 months) loves me reading the Ice Cream story and laughs when the ice cream SPLATS over someone's head. This Floppy’s Phonics Fiction complete pack offers 30 books that support the teaching of Phase 2 to Phase 5 Letters and Sounds (2007).
