If your radiator has already been painted, you might consider sanding off the initial paint layer instead of just adding a new coat on top. Masking tape will ensure you get the neatest possible finish. Apply it to any edges you do not want to paint, ensuring you use a good trade masking tape such as Q1 Precision Line Masking Tape as this will prevent any paint bleed through that can occur when using a cheap masking tape. If you scour the internet or peruse your local hardware store, you will see that many products and brands will work on chrome. We will give you our “top three” to minimize your workload (you already have enough to do if you are thinking of painting chrome!). Finally, you’re ready to apply your first coat of paint but remember to ensure adequate ventilation and wear protective clothing before you start. The best way to ensure complete coverage on the radiator and avoid paint splashes on your wall is to drain and remove the radiator first. However, as this is a pretty big undertaking if you don’t have the right tools, you’ll be happy to hear that you can paint radiators in place and still end up with a great result.
