When filling in the photo fields on the template make sure you get a blue and red character card for your board and a mystery (yellow or blue depending on your game) card for each picture. Change Names and Print The first player will ask their opponent a yes or no quesiton about their mystery person. Common questions are: After analyzing the cards, you will ask your opponent a yes or no question. This question should only apply to some of the remaining Face cards. The Guess Who template printables are patterned after the original 1991 version of Guess Who (found here). I grew up with this classic Guess Who in my house so my family is going to love it when I give them this for Christmas!

A player cannot take a random guess before or after asking a question in a turn, neither is it recommended. Even when you are sure your guess is right, you have to frame it in the form of a question.Popular belief is that a binary search is the most efficient approach to the game, where each question halves the number of possible identities. [2] This can be applied by asking complex questions - such as "Does your character have red hair, or glasses, or a big nose?" - where a yes or a no eliminates exactly half of the remaining characters. [3] Such a strategy takes only four questions to reduce the field to three people, giving the fifth question a 50/50 chance of identifying the opponent's character. GUESSING THE MYSTERY PERSON: When you’re ready to guess who the mystery person is, make your guess on your turn INSTEAD of asking a question. While I didn’t like the Guess Who? Card Game as much as the original game, this doesn’t mean that it is a terrible game. Many of the best things about the original game also apply to the card game. The core gameplay is still pretty fun. It is still satisfying when you ask a question that allows you to get rid of a lot of options. The game is still really easy to play. It can be taught to new players in a couple minutes at max. The rules are about as straightforward as possible where almost anyone could play the game. I think children and families in particular could really enjoy the game. If you enjoy the original Guess Who?, I see no reason why you wouldn’t enjoy the card game. Add the same pictures to the yellow mystery person cards using photoshop or any basic photo editing program. You can also print the pictures and yellow cards seprately and tape or paste the pictures onto the cards. The question cannot be descriptive or open-ended like “what is the color of your character’s hair?”. Flipping Down Characters

Basically the Guess Who? Card Game feels like it was designed to be a travel edition of the original game. The game fits into a small box unlike the original game. I like some things about this, but there are other things that I didn’t like. On the positive side the amount of space the game takes up is appreciated. This will make it much easier to bring along when traveling, and it also reduces how much space it will take up in your house. I missed the classic gameboards though. There is something oddly satisfying about flipping down the pictures after you have cleared a character. Flipping over cards just doesn’t have the same feel to it. For example, you could ask, "Does your Mystery Character have a hat?" Your opponent must answer either "yes" or "no".

For best results, save the image to your computer before printing. I find it easiest to drag and drop the image to my desktop. ASKING QUESTIONS: Until you’re ready to guess who the mystery person is, ask your opponent one yes or no question per turn. Players alternate turns asking questions and answering questions about their opponents mystery person card. This is one of the main reasons why I was disappointed with the Guess Who? Card Game doing nothing to actually change the gameplay. While I like the Guess Who? gameplay in theory, it has issues. I was really hoping for a game that finally found a way to fix some of the game’s problems. Unfortunately this was not the case when it comes to the Guess Who? Card Game. The game has the same issues as the original game, and in some ways introduces some of its own. I am not entirely sure how you could fix some of Guess Who?’s problems, but I wish I could find a game that would. I was a big fan of the game when I was a kid, and I think it has the framework to still be a good game. Something needs to be changed/tweaked for that to happen though. While the gameplay is exactly the same as the original game, there are a few things that do differ. Probably the biggest change comes with the characters included with the game. I will be honest and say that I haven’t played any of the newer versions of the original game. I am mostly familiar with the late 1980’s early 1990’s version of the game, as that is the one I played as a kid. The characters included with the game have changed over time. The original game is criticized for the fact that there was little diversity in the game. The original game only had six women/girls in the game, and only one character that wasn’t white. I am guessing that this has been fixed in newer versions of the game.

This template comes with two versions that work for the classic game with square character tiles as well as the game with tall rectangular character tiles. YOUR TURN: The younger player always goes first. On your turn, you may either ask a question or guess who the mystery person is, but don’t use your turn to guess the mystery person until you are ready. If you guess wrong you’ll lose the game. Would your person rather have the ability to speak and understand all languages or talk to animals? The template does not work for the travel version of the game or the version with a single sheet for characters, instead of individual cards. DIY Personalized Custom Guess Who GamePlayers take turns asking yes-or-no questions to narrow down the possible characters. For example, ask, "Does your character have a mustache?" or "Is your character a mother?"
