Description

Eddie has been hired for the case after the original lawyer, Otto Peltier, finds himself over his head in such a serious case. Eddie’s only rule when deciding whether to take cases is that he must be convinced the defendant is innocent. But when the rest of the country is baying for his client’s blood, convinced she is as guilty as her husband, it’s clear that this is going to be an emotional case.

With his wife on trial, the Sandman is forced to come out of hiding to save her from a life sentence. He will kill to protect her and everyone involved in the case is a target. If you are reading this, Steve Cavanagh- your readers also hope that Eddie Flynn will be entertaining us for years to come, and we can’t wait for the next installment!

Eddie Flynn is the best of the best and so is Steve Cavanagh, or the other way around 🙂. I already knew that but he proves it again in The Accomplice. It’s simple, if you want someone defending you, he’s the one you want, the one you need. That is if you’re innocent and you can convince Eddie that you are because he’ll only defend the innocent. I know for a lawyer he’s quite strange but we all want a good guy right and you can’t get one more pure than Eddie.

Daniel Miller murdered fourteen people before he vanished. His wife, Carrie, now faces trial as his accomplice. The FBI, the District Attorney, the media and everyone in America believe she knew and helped cover up her husband's crimes. While Eddie is hesitant to take the case, he’s persuaded by something deep inside him. Preparing to defend her on charges of being an accomplice to murder, Eddie knows that it will be an uphill battle, exacerbated by the fact that his client has skipped bail. Add to that The Sandman is lurking in the shadows and still killing, when he makes a bold move; kidnapping one of Eddie’s team members and promising to release her only when Carrie is exonerated. Well this case really puts Eddie’s skills to the test. With 2 days until the case starts Carrie skips bail. Without her testimony, there is near zero chance of getting her acquitted. But Eddie has to win this case to save a life that is dear to him. Okay. So if I worked with Eddie Flynn, I’d be making sure that I had a really good life insurance policy. Assuming I could even get a life insurance policy that is. It’s fair to say that where Eddie goes, trouble with follow, and if it’s not Eddie, it’s those around them who end up in the crossfire. This is definitely the case with The Accomplice where Eddie and the team come face to face (sort of) with a killer who will stop at nothing to ensure his co-defendant is found not guilty. Even if that means breaking cover to commit more murder. This was a fast paced, high stakes, full on tension kind of read – just the way I like it.When they search their house they find some evidence that they feel incriminates her as an accomplice…or at the least, a person who knew about her husband’s crimes and failed to report them, choosing instead to help him by providing an alibi or covering them up. I came late to the Steve Cavanagh party with ‘Fifty Fifty’ – book five in the Eddie Flynn series. I’m glad to have turned up late rather than never at all – as Eddie and his team are fantastic characters with numerous twists in their tale. I thought we’d hit peak Flynn with the last book but I've been proved wrong. Eddie Flynn has been enjoying his legal practice for the last number of years, choosing who he represents and making sure criminal defence work receives as stellar a reputation as possible. When his team is approached by a lawyer to take on the defence of Carrie Miller, arguably the most hated woman in America. Carrie is the wife of Daniel Miller, also known as The Sandman, a horrific serial killer who is still on the loose. While Carrie professes to being innocent of any wrongdoing, the court of public opinion is clearly ruling against her.
