I happen to speculate (there isn't scriptural proof either way that I know of) that it's more accurate to say, we are a part of God's world, rather than God and all spiritual beings are a part of ours. The most widely used resource of the last 25 years in its area, Systematic Theology by Wayne Grudem has been thoroughly revised and expanded (all 57 chapters) for the first time while retaining the features that have made it the standard in its field: clear explanations, an emphasis on each doctrine's scriptural basis, and practical applications to daily life. It may be my concern here isn't with Grudem as much as it is with his text in the hands of immature believers who claim to be his theological heirs.

In all seriousness, this a great guide to (a) understanding what the heck systematic theology is In my opinion, his highly ecumenical approach makes him the best of the three, but your mileage may vary. The doctrines studied in systematic theology act as guidelines to help us continue filling in other areas and adding new pieces for the rest of our lives. As before, students will be guided through their reading with book excerpts embedded within the course.But if they start reading Genesis 1:1, it’ll be a long time before he or she finds the answer to the question. Theology is both scriptural and cultural, but the ultimate measure and center of the message is Jesus Christ, the incarnate word. Prior to that, he had taught for 20 years at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, where he was chairman of the department of biblical and systematic theology. Though I disagree with him on a number of key issues my gripes are mainly to do with the dryness of the content, the lack of devotional approach, and the sheer lack of depth to the dry and dead material that is in the book. continuationism is an example where I do not quite find myself lining up with the author’s assessment.

After a quarter century of remarkable usefulness globally, Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology, in its second edition, remains remarkable for its extraordinary juxtapositions. In recent years, Grudem's publications have focused on the application of the ethical teachings of the Bible to broader areas of the culture including government and economics. The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times.At the end of each chapter, Grudem offers questions for reflection, Scripture to memorize, and even an applicable hymn for the topic being discussed. It is a handsome, well organized, well written book that has God and his workings in the world all figured out. Not only is it long, but the chapters should be read and reflected upon to receive the greatest benefit. So there is a lot of room for negotiation here, yet the Bible does seem to emphasize some specific things that should point us to a plurality of elders ruling the local church with the support of the full congregation.

Praise be to God, and deep thanks to Wayne Grudem, for extending the life of this work and making it even better for another generation of theological students of God's Word. For a theologian like Grudem, who seems very thorough in so many other things, to overlook the juice vs. But it certainly lacks no arrogance as it strides forward to grasp the Scripture and put it to the author's own use.
