Easy to Clean and Maintain– Painted fireplaces are easier to wipe down than natural textured surfaces. Inexpensive– All it takes to make this project a reality is some paint, a few tools, and some elbow grease. Brush on COLD SURFACE. FIRE MUST BE COMPLETELY OUT. At least 2 layers of paint are recommended. For best results, allow paint to air-dry for 24 hours, then heat cure to 500°F. Be sure all paint is dry before re-firing. Provide ventilation when firing for the first time after painting. Some smoke and odors are given off during this process.

Laying down sheets around the area will catch any dirt, soot, and ash deposits as you clean the surface prior to painting, protecting your carpets or wood floors. Mask areas with tape that you don't want to be painted, and then prepare the surface of your fire surround depending on the substrate:Problems with the Masonry– Painting the fireplace can reveal certain underlying problems that exist with the fireplace. De-rust according the manufacturer's instructions - usually through mechanical or blast cleaning as hand washing will not clean the surface sufficiently. If your fireplace has previously been painted, you won’t need a primer, just sand and wipe it clean.Of course, we can’t make the decision for you, but what we can do is take you through the ins and outs of fireplace paint. We will help you understand different types of fireplace paints and the process for painting a fireplace. As you choose the right type of paint, so too must you select the right safety equipment to keep you protected.

The enforceability of this limited warranty shall be further subject to compliance with the following requirements: Surface defects and loose pointing should be filled in, with any visible signs of organic growths treated with mould remover. If the fireplace mantle is stained and varnished, sand it down thoroughly and wipe clean. Sanding will even the surface and remove any chips. While using these products is not mandatory, when you are painting the fireplace, it will help keep your fireplace looking bright and new. A few other precautionary tips you should keep in mind while painting or redoing your fireplace are: This means a paint capable of withstanding 1,200F degrees and possible with a silicone resin as part of its base. Not only for redoing the metal fireplaces, hearth, and surrounds but if you want you can use it for spray painting wood chimneys in your home as well.
