It's silent technology and an all purpose fork for hands free operation, makes this espresso grinder a fantastic choice. I have EM Classic (2 years old) and it’s the worst imaginable espresso grinder on earth for just one reason. I think it's the perfect "household" grinder that will satisfy both the coffee geek and the other members of a household who just want a grinder that's easy to use with timed dosing. Brands we know that understand and support our beliefs and principles on how a machine should perform. It's worth noting, though, that the Mignon I was sent, had been used for a while before, so the burrs had been “run-in”.

The Mignon grinders have very small retention, in fact, during the Clive Coffee retention comparison experiment they found that the Specialita only retained about 1. You could get the cheapest model that will do the bare minimum, but the risk is that you’ll be tempted to upgrade in a year or two. As being able to produce uniform and fluffy grinds has the biggest impact on the taste of your espresso. Speaking of flavour, flat burrs are known for excellent consistency and grind quality, which translates to greater clarity in the cup.

You prefer conical burrs: If you enjoy the heavier texture of espresso prepared using a conical burr grinder, you’ll love the Niche Zero. Bottom Burr Adjust - By adjusting the grind from below the motor mount, the Specialita preserves your grind setting between disassemblies. One of the most common questions when it comes to the Mignon grinders is re the specialists vs the silenzio. This doesn’t mean you’ll get the caffeine from your specialty coffee beans to your bloodstream much quicker – though that is a nice perk.

To put that into meaningful numbers, if you're making around three or four double shots per day they'll last about 50 years! The exception, which is disappointingly true of the best prosumer-level coffee grinders, even those far more expensive than the Specialita, is the plastic bean hopper and hopper stopper. If you like to pass between different coffee styles, then we recommend the more versatile Eureka Mignon Perfetto.

In case you've no idea what I'm going on about re retention, this is the ground coffee that remains each time you grind, which then ends up in your portafilter the next time you grind. There are also other features that you won’t see but you will definitely notice when grinding the coffee: Eureka’s silent technology, for instance, makes it up to 10 dB quieter than the previous generation allowing you to prepare your early morning coffee without waking up the whole family. By the way, while I'm talking about purging coffee beans – do you purge some coffee each time you adjust your grind while dialing in? Available in a variety of colours, the Eureka Mignon Specialita sits snugly, and quietly on any countertop. So, when you see a machine or a coffee recommendation in our top picks, you know it's not just hot air.

Ritual specialises in exquisite espresso machines, coffee grinders and barista equipment that makes this ambition a reality – and enables you to bring the exceptional taste of specialty coffee into the comfort of your own home. The portafilter cradle is adjustable and designed to work with all sizes of the portafilter, but I haven’t found that to be entirely accurate. We're committed to helping you 'Brew Better Coffee', and that starts with providing you with the best, most accurate information possible. As with all popular Eureka grinders, this unit incorporates ACE Systems’ anti-static, anti-clumping technology for a reliably clean and even grind. This burr grinder has digital timed dosing with a white on black display, a conveniently placed stepless grind adjustment dial, and superb noise insulation.Even when things go wrong, Eureka grinders are known for being simple to service, thanks to their easy access and thoughtful internal layouts. The silenzio has 50mm burrs, but these are the standard Eureka hardened steel burrs made with espresso in mind.

I think many people considering investing in a Mignon for espresso, will be torn between the Specialita and the Silenzio Mignons, and wondering if it's worth paying extra for the Specialita. active_palette":0,"config":{"colors":{"f3080":{"name":"Main Accent","parent":-1},"f2bba":{"name":"Main Light 10","parent":"f3080"},"trewq":{"name":"Main Light 30","parent":"f3080"},"poiuy":{"name":"Main Light 80","parent":"f3080"},"f83d7":{"name":"Main Light 80","parent":"f3080"},"frty6":{"name":"Main Light 45","parent":"f3080"},"flktr":{"name":"Main Light 80","parent":"f3080"}},"gradients":[]},"palettes":[{"name":"Default","value":{"colors":{"f3080":{"val":"rgb(23, 23, 22)","hsl":{"h":60,"s":0. In that case, the Specialita is the perfect grinder to accompany you on your espresso brewing journey. Bigger burrs: unlike the Perfetto or the Silenzio, this coffee grinder is fitted with 55 mm burrs instead of 50 mm which enables it to grind up to 1. For a diminutive machine that will fit unobtrusively in any kitchen, it’s got real weight and feels built like a tank. This burr grinder has digital timed dosing with a white on black display, a conveniently placed stepless grind adjustment dial, and superb noise insulation. The Specialita is not designed to be a single-dose grinder, and I won’t claim that it is one, but it is better than most, thanks to its low grind retention. Just curious does the eureka mignon oro single dose have the same adjustment feature where bottom burrs are what adjust during change so when coming to maintenance it doesn’t change the grind size in doing so?
