BattleTech is the world’s greatest armored combat game. In Alpha Strike, you take command of large-scale engagements, fueled by tabletop miniatures gameplay designed for the modern wargamer. Inside is everything you need to start tossing dice and moving miniatures on your game table. The key feature of BattleTech is that the combat units in all these battles are roughly 12-metre-tall humanoid armoured combat units called BattleMechs, powered by fusion reactors and armed with a variety of weapons. These towering machine of destruction are led into battle by experienced MechWarriors that could either be soldier-of-fortune or part of one of the noble Great Houses fighting for supremacy. Certain reports suggest that the plastics used for basic 24 'Mechs in this set may differ from that used in the previous edition, that is the Classic BattleTech Introductory Box Set, but the sculpts appear unchanged. At present, there is not a way known to distinguish a miniature originating from the Classic BattleTech Introductory Box Set in 2007 and one originating from the 25th Anniversary Introductory Box Set in 2011 or 2012. This premium ‘Mech ALSO comes with an extra torso for the previous release, the Hammerhead! The Hammerhead originally shipped with the wrong torso. So replace it with this one or just kit bash yourself a new FrankenMech with all those extra parts you’ve been collecting!

You are given command of these modern-day knights, dropped onto a battlefield: use your wits and acumen to bring victory or end up a casualty on a forgotten world. The Battledroids included with this first set as cutout playing pieces were the Stinger, Shadow Hawk, Archer, Griffin, Warhammer, Marauder, Crusader, Wasp, and Rifleman. All of these would later become Unseen. Rubber stands were included for the cutouts. In addition, the Merlin featured in the rulebook as a practical example for the construction rules, but it had no associated picture or cutout. Catalyst Game Labs had sold Thor and Loki miniatures in 2009, thus prior to the release of the 25th Anniversary Introductory Box Set. These miniatures were announced as being developed in partnership Ghost Studios. The plastic used was high detail HIPS (High Impact Poly Styrene).

Resculpts (2019-Present) [ edit ] BattleTech Beginner Boxes and BattleTech: A Game of Armored Combat [ edit ] Pouncer: New in plastic, the Pouncer is on the light side of medium mechs with decent movement and durability. The Prime variant is a sniper, able to do three damage out to long range, while the T variant has to get closer but can then apply heat to the target.Warhammer: A personal favorite, both included Warhammer variants are brawlers with good armor and more firepower at close range than long range. The 8R has more damage and durability than the 6R, but their main difference is really just one of cost. In 2023 the BattleTech: Essentials boxset was announced for release as part of an exclusivity arrangement with the retailer Target. This essentially served as another version of the Beginners Box. BattleTech, 2nd Edition, came with a rulebook (with a proper cover) with gaming and 'Mech construction rules. These were based off the Advanced Battledroids Rules, and form the core of the BattleTech boardgame rules to this day with minimal changes. The vehicle and infantry rules from Battledroids were dropped, but the construction rules were kept with some adjustments.
