As Tamagotchi was garnering a sizable female audience, the duo would later create Digimon using the same groundwork and overall concept as Tamagotchi, but with a more masculine style and added training and battling in an attempt to increase virtual pet appeal to males. Additionally, Bandai would go to experiment with other virtual pets. The Tamagotchi effect, how humans develop emotional attachments and reactions to artificial life, was named after Tamagotchi. Pressing the A and C buttons simultaneously will disable or enable the sound, indicated by a unique beep. This can only be done on the main screen, and won't work if the Tamagotchi is dead or in the middle of a specific animation, such as pooping or dying.

Demon Slayer Tamagotchi: Released in Japan and South Korea in October 2020 and in the USA in January 2021, this model is based on the anime franchise Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. The user is tasked with training a young Demon Slayer while fending off demons. There are three games available, each influencing what the user's character will evolve into depending on which games are played. Tourabutchi: Released in Japan in August 2022, this model is based on the video game franchise Touken Ranbu. If the character needs something, the user can press the C button for an animation to see what it needs. If the character looks angry, it's hungry; if it sulks, it's unhappy. If its Hungry and Happy meters are not empty but the Happy meter is not full, it will play a simple happy animation. If the Happy meter is completely full and the Hungry meter is not empty, the character will perform a Close Up. Do these models have any contrast or lighting settings? It's a little hard to see, especially at night.The Tamagotchi are a race of aliens from the far distant Tamagotchi Planet, described as being "millions of miles" from The Earth. After a prolonged time, the pet will leave its owner. Each model has its own unique departure sequences, including Death, but many have more than one sequence. Typically, there is a "good" ending sequence, and a "bad" one. Regardless of which ending occurred, pressing the A and C buttons together will trigger the life cycle to start again from the beginning.
