Description

Sandalwood give the fragrance in the drydown a wonderfully adult, profound and confessed character, which clearly distinguishes the Oud Fleur from all other oud-rose combinations. Completely detached, down-to-earth and sophisticated appears the wonderful combination of rough, spicy, edgy oud with the juicy, dark and dirty rose after the sandalwood brings the fragrance the necessary creaminess, smoothness and calmness into play.

tobacco oud? this is more amber absolute with just a bit of spices. nice scent and good sillage and longevity.

By the middle of the second hour, Oud Fleur smells like a creamy, almost custardy, almost mousse-y, airy flan infused with slightly burning spikes of chili pepper, then covered with a blanket of lightly sweetened, fruited flowers. The notes have blurred into each other, the fragrance feels increasingly soft, and hovers just an inch above the skin. At home sprayed on me boomed first of all a huge load of spiced oud. Some speak of associations with Tom Ford's London - and these are also absolutely not to be dismissed, even if the cumin (fortunately) is completely absent here and instead cardamom and coriander are to be perceived. Above all, however, the oud is here the tone-setting unit, which makes this fragrance seem extremely loud, strong and masculine in the first moment. You should, however, listen to the die-hard Oud Wood and Amber Absolute fan when she tells you that Tobacco Oud won’t satisfy your oud itch, and that it won’t measure up to Oud Wood or Amber Absolute for anyone who is truly passionate about either fragrance. I couldn’t agree more. Tobacco Oud isn’t a bad perfume, but, as this discussion should make clear, it’s incredibly generic and wholly unoriginal. With an established je ne sais quoi about the brand, one needs to explore deeper into the scents themselves. Do they deliver the fantasy? Issued in 2011, the fragrance includes top notes of Indian spices, cumin, cinnamon, carrot seeds, and fenugreek; heart notes of jasmine, ylang-ylang, and rose; and base notes of Australian sandalwood, cedar, benzoin, musk, and oud.

Oud Fleur does not want to be understood, I am convinced of that. Not every question needs an answer. Not every decision needs to be made. Not everything needs to be committed to.

My Account

Sometimes it is enough to pause for a moment and enjoy. Existence, life, love and the feeling of not having to have an answer to everything. Our reader Jonan got this right, saying, "If you are looking for a crowd pleasing club monster to get the attention of young girls with, then please move along, nothing for you to see here." To me the domineering note of Vert d'Encensis the pine resin, which couples with the incense to give a far-away-lands atmosphere; like I would imagine one standing in Kransnoyarsk, Russia, instead of Corsica, with the river bringing on an odd freshness, and the smoky fires within and the central heating belying the outside cold. It's one fragrance that really benefits from the cold outside, when its warmth rises forth and makes the heart grow fonder. She too has noted how Tom Ford fragrances differ substantially in smell depending on the quantity applied, and I think her observations are useful, along with the ever-helpful comparisons to her beloved Amber Absolute:
