Trevor Hairsine's on art for the most part as with DCeased and Dead Planet, though he does get some help from Neil Edwards as the series goes on. Along the way, we get to see some wild sights, awesome character combinations, and characters shifting sides that will keep the conclusion up in the air for which side will win.

The Guardians Of The Universe battle both the zombies of the ALE and the heroes who disapprove of their plan to massacre victims who could otherwise be cured. Demanding to know what he wanted, Ares revealed that a war was coming and that though it would be glorious, it would be inevitably futile, as he revealed this indeed happened prior and nobody survived. The penultimate issue of DCeased: War Of The Undead Gods did a lot to show our heroes finally get the big victory over Darkseid and the Anti-Living army. We have two artists this issue with Lucas Meyer joining Trevor Hairsine, and they work very well with each other as you don’t get distracted from the change in art; honestly, they blend very nicely with each other. However, none of these superficial aspects do much to save the morbid storytelling or maddeningly distorted artwork.

I appreciate that DC haven't decided to drag this out past its sell-by date, especially given how successful it's been for them, and let Taylor finish his story his way. As a result, the villian takes on a passive, but agreeable role in punching the greater evil for the greater good. Taylor made sure that Darkseid didn’t just fully turn to the light side as he did not hesitate to remind Guy Gardner who he is. And after several years and several other mini-series ( Unkillables, Hope At World’s End, Dead Planet), the tale finally came to War Of The Undead Gods, the arc that was set to wrap up the DCeased story.No spoilers, but I think the creators of The New Gods and Damian Wayne would be pleased with the final results. Additionally, there was a justifiable amount of anger and accusations of selfishness or shortsightedness. The heroes get Superman back in the first issue, but then things just get worse and worse until the sudden but inevitable conclusion. Originally, Darkseid’s pursuit of the anti-life equation was responsible for the beginning of DCeased.

Taylor along with Trevor Hairsine and Lucas Meyer emphasized this growth with how while Damian was wearing the Batman costume he didn’t have his cowl on. They then stepped onto a New Genesis in ruins due to Darkseid's attack, causing Barda to worry about the well being of her son. We now see several characters, like Mister Miracle and Supergirl, healed and reunited with their families. In fact, the manipulation of a being outside of space and time is even somewhat news to “Darkseid, The Unliving.Here’s the problem: when you stack the odds that high and you make winning impossible, virtually no resolution is going to work. Very cleverly, the infection itself is tied into the precious Anti-Life Equation that Darkseid has been after almost since his inception.

It still has distorted inconsistencies in the facial renders, generally unpleasant renders, and sparse underdrawn backgrounds.

I know Jon leaves for the sake of the others, but it felt like the Spectre already hit the same beat. Yes, it is one giant escalation, and yes, some might find that it loses it's heart, but Taylor hangs in there all the way to the end, and what separates something like this from Marvel zombies is this tries to have some semblance of emotion. Damian wearing the pure white Batman costume that Jon gifted him was a great way to symbolize how far he has come and the sacrifice he was going to make. Clark is more than handicapable with his new appendage as he and Jon are the perfect father/son duo.
