Overlooked is sweet Laura (Daisy Wood-Davis who has not yet done much, but should), who not only wants to be Bobby's girl (cue song), but who also happens to be a 16-year-old song-writing genius who can help Bobby win the National Youth Songwriting competition.But the boy-meets-girl premise is predictable, and in the rush to get from song to song (there are almost 40), character and plot development take a back seat.

The show is written by Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran, the team behind Goodnight Sweetheart, Birds of a Feather, The New Statesmen and Shine On Harvey Moon, and features songs from Roy Orbison, The Everly Brothers, Neil Sedaka, Eddie Cochran, Dion, Del Shannon and many more.

In true jukebox musical form this show smashes through hit after hit after hit with over 30 numbers in the whole production.

After spending several weeks at the number one spot in the UK Compilation Charts and with over two million copies sold of the first album, the unexpected success of Dreamboats and Petticoats CD series made producers of the series to consider a stage musical adaptation.The Legendary Des O’Connor Makes His West End Musical Theatre Debut In Dreamboats And Petticoats World-renowned entertainer DES O’CONNOR will join the cast of hit West End musical DREAMBOATS AND PETTICOATS from 3 October, for a strictly limited season at The Playhouse Theatre. Featuring over 40 pop hits from the fifties and sixties, Dreamboats and Petticoats is the feel-good musical to end them all.

The title ‘Dreamboats and Petticoats’ comes from a nine CD series from Universal Music so as we are only at number 3.
