These little compacts have a place and there is room for them I think though people like to talk them down. So far, so ordinary you might think, but the WX350 fits all of that and more into a very, very compact body – indeed, according to Sony it’s the world’s smallest and lightest compact camera with a 20x optical zoom.I zoomed the WX350 to its maximum 500mm equivalent focal length and took a sequence of shots in fading light with progressively slower shutter speeds.

Few phones would have their sleek lines interrupted by a podgy camera lens, however adding a bulky lens to a compact camera won’t exactly make it pocket-friendly either. It certainly compares pretty favourably with the Powershot SX600 HS which delivers a pretty meagre 290 shots. If you don’t need such as fast burst, there’s a slower 2fps mode, although it took just as long to save all its shots. That should make the camera perform better in low light conditions, and make processing times quicker, than in the previous generation. Sony WX350 has a score of 21 for Sports Photography which makes it a POOR candidate for this type of photography.Sony’s dedicated iSweep Panorama mode gives you three width options: Standard (roughly 120-degrees), Wide (180-degrees) and a full 360-degree pan. Came as runner up - especially the DSC-WX500 since both have all manual modes but failed short on size (comfortable pocketability is limited to my taste) and missing RAW-mode.

Simply press the shutter button and sweep the camera in the desired direction and the camera continuously shoots at a high speed, then seamlessly stitches the images together with automatic position adjustment to create one stunning panoramic image. The WX350 shoots up to ten shots at 10 fps, records 1080/60p video, and has a 'Motion Shot feature' for capturing things like golf swings. Oddly, you can't access the full set of filters unless you're in Program Auto Mode, during which they're not accessible via the Photo Creativity button (as they are in all the other shooting modes). Had all the features I wanted but failed short on its bulky size for real pocket-ability, especially the Lumix DMC-ZS70.

Neither is the PowerShot SX600 HS an unattractive looking compact, but side by side with the WX350 HS it looks like its bigger, older, slightly gauche brother.
