This map identifies each archaeological period using different symbols and colours to show sites from the Stone Age through to the early Middle Ages against a modern map base, double-sided to cover the whole country. An index to all sites is provided, with each monument named, giving the National Grid reference number.

A must for people interested in Roman Britain who wants to go and look at the sites in real and it covers a lot of sites indeed. Key sites of significant historical interest are highlighted using photographs, text, and thumbnail mapping from the OS Landranger map series.To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Surrounding the map are numerous panels providing further information including contact details of relevant organizations, photos, drawings and profiles, a glossary of archaeological terms, a chronological table placing British events in a wider historical context, reading recommendations, etc. There's a heap of history out there, not all of it easily discerned, so this map is an excellent way of deciding which way to go.
