It's September 1940 and war around London is heavy and fierce with continued bombings and air raids. There are several stories of staff being related and so events move from one perspective to another.
For my part this was an undemanding read, with recognisable tropes and a certain old-fashioned charm. As the band strikes up in the Grand Ballroom to celebrate the nuptials of Raymond and Nancy, one thing is certain – this will be a Christmas to remember. With profiteers skulking the London streets, and devious rivals plotting the Buckingham's downfall, the hotel staff must all hold onto what matters most- and decide where their loyalties lie.
